This will be the Xbox 360 thread. I will PM Matt and se what I can do to maybe possibly get this thread stickied since it has become 7 pages long, and beasically we talk about all things 360.

So let's keep this thread, it's the most active one in the Xbox forum except for the stickies (I think, this one may be longer than those as well!)

I demo'd it last week and it was really nice. It won't disappoint at all. The graphics for Kong were sweet.

I wasn't too impressed, but then again, I have only tried Call of Duty 2 on a demo at best buy. I downloaded the demo to my pc(year and a half old) and was able to run the graphics to where I couldn't tell a difference between the 360 version and my pc version.
But I guess it always takes some time before developers can fully use a platform. Like the graphics differnce between HALO 1 and 2.

I played a demo unit at Walmart, including Call of Duty 2 and King Kong.
holy Jaggies up the wahzoo. I've seen PS2 games that are crisper than that.
I absolutely love my first gen xbox, and I was really excited to see the 360. But I think the system is just a little over hyped. And the lack of true backwards compatability is bogus. I'm holding out for a PS3 unless something really gives me a reason to get a 360. (Get cracking Bungie)

as far as warpedx's comment, yeah it takes devs some time to be able to fully utilize a platform, but with developing for the xbox being so similar to a PC they really don't have an excuse. Especially for how bad it looked... stupid jaggies of doom!

considering how long it took them to finish halo2, 3 won't be ready in time for spring which is when the PS3 is slated for release. And as far as I know, they haven't even officially announced that they were working on 3.

Everyone knows that Microsoft needs bungie to FINISH the game. Not just throw some piece together like they were partially forced to with the first halo. So they aren't going to base its release on the release of PS3. thats just stupid. that would be a huge mistake.

That has been the big buzz at Bungee for a while. I don't know if they are trying to make Sony push the PS3 sooner or what as it really doesn't matter to me.

You can't play Halo on the PS and I could care less about total backwards compatibility. I don't like the PS for various reasons, so I'm sticking with the Xbox.

I'll still purchase purchase a couple for my sons Christmas gifts because that's what they want. I demo'd it at Best Buy too and the graphics looked awesome but of course it was hooked up to a HDTV to make it look as good as possible. To solve the backwards capability, I'm going to purchase the more expensive 360 with a harddrive. The less expensive 360 doesn't have a harddrive, isn't backwards compatible, and can't be used on Xbox Live. At least that's what the guy at Best Buy said. It's supposed to be out on Nov 22. I'll be first in line.

The 400 dollar one (Forgot the package name) is a great deal! you get a wireless controller, Headset, Xbox Live Silver subscription, 20 GB Hard Disk Drive, and i think that's it. IT's a much better deal though.

As for backwards compatability, I don't like BC anyway, why make a system that is backwards compatible? The XB360 is made for XB360 games....that's the reason they came out with it. Has anyone here ever played PS1 games on a PS2 other than to see if it works? I didn't think so....PS1 sucked anyway.

Xbox Live is being refomatted. You will have access with the 360, but not total access. There will be 2 packages available one will supprot full online play and the other one won't.

I still play PS1 games. Some of the best games launched on either or the playstations were on the PS1. Final Fantasy Tactics, FFVII, Ridge Racer 4 just to name a few. And my original plan was to sell my xbox but keep my games. Since there are a bunch that I still play on a regular basis. But I won't be able to do that now. I'd rather just hook up one system and play everything as opposed to 1 system with only that systems games or hook up 2 systems to play both sets.

I don't think you have to worry. Microsoft can't afford another loss. They're still losing big time in the gaming market and they have to be able to supply current demand. It does them no good for xbox 360's to be selling on ebay for 800 dollars. they want to sell you one from them for 400.

I pre ordered in August, got a phone call on Saturday night saying that they might get me one before X-mas or within the 1st 2 weeks of Jan. I got my full refund back the next day. I have a friend that works at Walmart so it's all good. I'm going to go pick it up a little later on.

Someone needs to answer for this, it's happened to a couple of my friends also. Are the stores taking to many pre orders or is Microsoft screwing the retail stores by short shipping them? This crap happened with the original and PS2 only to have the market flooded a couple of weeks later. Seriously, how can you short order a huge seller like this right before the holiday season?

I tried Walmart this morning and was too late. I didn't know they started selling them at 12:01 midnight. They only had 45. The cashier said she came in at 10:45 pm last night and there was already a line. ya, i know atleast 25 kids at my school came in late, all drove around this morning lookin for xbox 360. i know 1 kid in my school got 1 at midnight last night, and 2 of my xbox live friends got them. from what i heard they cut the shippments for the european launch. usually all companys release systems like this . First, japan get them, million, 2 or 3. then 5 or 6 months later we get them, usually this time of year. and by may europe gets their systems. microsoft did a WORLD WIDE LAUNCH this time around. japan got theirs a short 2 weeks ago, ours today, and europe gets theirs in like 8 days. so instead of having say, 3 million just for the USA, they had 1 million for japan, 1 million for us then 1 million for europe. my guess, a publicity stunt, everyones hearing "ooo, i pre-ordered mine months ago and im not gonna get it till january" and everyone hears that and says "o §§§§, better pre-order mine now" next thing u know 2 weeks before christmas all the stores mysteriously has enough xbox 360s for EVERYONE YAY. idc, as long as i get mine before christmas im happy, if not, im crackin some skulls!

i don't think microsoft (as much as I dislike them and Bill) is doing this on purpose. it doesn't make any good business sense. article in wall street journal two weeks ago talked about how critical microsoft's supply chain was and how they had taken measures to avoid the debacle associated witih the release of original xbox.

Yea frikin dumbasses, i saw like 10 xbox 360 bundles on ebay with wireless controller, hard drive and HD cables normally retailing for $399 going for $1200 on like every auction. Thats just STUPID

And microsoft is a frikin joke, they know holiday season is the most busy, THATS THE WHOLE POINT THEY RELEASED IT AT THIS TIME, they had a TREMENDOUS opportunity to get record-breaking sales but yet they are so behind in production that they might as well have released it in the period of time when consumers are least likely to shop, most of the stores only have like 40 units and the people who pre-ordered 5 months ago wont get theres till like January, may I ask then what the §§§§ is the point of pre-ordering, theres a reason I am wainting for PS3, its because Sony in my book has always been more reliable and PS3 IMO has superior capabilities
. HD discs up to 25 gb space compared to like 9.5 gb on XBOX
. Capability to play future HD movies in the blu-ray format
. Ability to connect up to 7 wireless controllers
. Dual HDMI ports
. Lots of other stuff I cant think of, plus its a Sony!! They do after all control 70% of the video game market and releasing consoles in a large and adequate amount has never been a problem

They did a first for history (that I know of) and released it globally, the only reason sony and nintendo (who shouldn't even be considered a contendor anymore are always able to make the cut with release is because they have months between different releases (japan, north america, europe) so there is no way you should compare this release to those. So I have no idea where your getting your logic, maybe some jealousy that people where able to get it before you? right now I have two xboxes. so i like it enough (well, ok, my kids have two). but what I don't like is that when the darned thing (first one) crapped out on me, I thought it was just that the dvd drive stopped working. so I bought another and replaced it only to find out it wasn't the dvd drive. It was instead, in the terms of the folks in some xbox forum I went to for help, that the 'chip' had died.

Now think about it. not only did the chip die in my xbox, but it died so many times in xboxes that there was a darned section of this forum dedicated to fixing your dead xbox chip. My sense is that microsoft could not have avoided knowing of this problem. yet what did they do about it? nothing. If you want to try and fix it yourself, you void the warrenty, send it back to them under warranty and they keep it for six weeks, or in my case, it's no longer under warrenty and you either fix it yourself or buy another xbox.

so i buy this third party chip that fixes my xbox but there are some potential legality issues with the new chips in that you can do new and more capable things with your xbox so when i bought the chip, they wouldn't sell me the firmware that goes with the chip. had to go to some super double top secret website to download the firmware for the chip and then wrestle with getting it from my desktop computer onto the xbox.

so, don't get me wrong, my son is intent on getting an xbox 360 so i guess we're going to get one sooner or later. but i do not for a moment think microsoft has any interest in providing a quality product to the customer.

So now i am out of a 360...and today I went to go play one at Wal-Mart for the first time of my life...here's how it went.....

I get to Wal-Mart...I see the electronics Aisle, what do I See? An empty Aisle...with a white controller hanging out of it!!! I'm gonna get to play! YES! SCORE! So I grab the controller. It is very comfortable. I scroll through the menus to try and play a game....and nothing happens! So I say "Okay I'll play a hard drive game...And I find out...It's an Xbox 360 Core....

WHY GOD WHY?! lol.

The xbox is like a ion, just for video games, slap on a new faceplate, it won't change performance, just the look. You could buy a white one and airbrush it yourself, and yes lots of companies are coming out with them.

Not sure if its already been stated, but since i work at gamestop (EB games to some) as a side job to my paintball store, im up on the news in both industries. The Ps3 will not be out in spring as most think it will. The developers edition hasnt even hit the head of Sony yet, and if it were we would be taking pre-orders for it already since its gonna be huge. I know that itll be pushing 3 teraflops wile the 360 is pushing around 1. But is a $500 console with $80 games worth it? I am a loyal xbox lover and love my 360 to death. Ive got what i believe to be the top three games for it so far,(King Kong, Call of Duty 2, and Madden 06) and i think its unbelievable on a 60" HD w/surround sound. I think its a perfect budget beater with outstanding games. Anyway, just putting some info out there!

Oh whoops forgot, the reason its not comming out is because since no final cut is ready in japan, theres no way that the american version for Sony america is ready. If in fact there is some truth to it being released in spring, it will be japans version, it will take till next christmas for it to come over shores. Just like it was expected to arrive. Okay my Xbox Live Gold trial ended, and now I reverted back to Xbox Live Silver, and now it won't play HALO 2 online.

Any help?

ya perfct dark got old prety quick on my friend's 360. I liked the n64 one way better. Oblivion is freakin awesome, i've got so many hours into that on my friend's.

so, just picked one up last week with oblivion, and battlefield 2. I cant play halo 2 on that controller to save my life, but battlefield 2 is amazing online. Oblivion is glorious. And i just rented dead rising, and i must say, funniest and funnest game i have ever played in my life. you can kill zombies with litarally anything. pop cans, guns, cars, tv, cash register, hanger, golf club, i even got a megaman arm cannon that shoots foam balls. They dont do much but its funny to use. The thing i like most about the 360 is how you can download the demos to all the games that come out, so you can see whether or not you wanna buy em, saves a lot of money. Xbox live arcade is pretty fun too, i recommend to everyone to buy geometry wars, at first it was kinda dumb, but after a few games i was addicted.

i have had my 360 for a little while and i always play it online and my gamertag is hotshotshocker(before i got my angel)and if anyone of you send me a freind request send a message like i heart AOG or something.
But i always play call of duty 2
and have any of you played the saints row game it is better than the demo.but that game is sweet
