I finally got my G7 Dezign's bolt today and wanted to give my 2 cents so here goes. First off i placed my order last week around monday/tuesday and i got my bolt today (wednesday). It came in a simple package with 2 dezign stickers, which are always nice. My version is the open-face design. Here's a breakdown
Quality: When i first held it and looked at it i was truly amazed how perfect this bolt looked. it was hard to believe a person made it since the measurements and smoothness are so perfect. There werent scratches or little knicks here and there that would be a giveaway that this is a custom job. If i were to glance at this bolt without knowin wat is was than i would definitely guess it was a mass production bolt. Needless to say im very impressed.
Performance: First off i shot my fly g7 with the stock bolt. conditions were as follows. Temperature is roughly 50 degrees, paint was low/mid grade, dwell 10, lpr 50-55, tr 22, reloader b on setting 1. and away i go. First string of balls shot perfect, paused shots another string, and BAM, barrel break. Cleaned out the entire barrel and other spots that got paint on it and tried again. First couple shots were good then BAM, another barrel break. Cleaned out the gun and on to the Dezign's bolt. Everything else is constant, no settings changed. Shot a string, all was good, shot another string, still good, then i let it rip. hopper emptied, barrel clean =). Anyway, i decide to push my luck, and i set the reloader b to the fastest setting, which most people know is suicide for bad paint in the cold. Here goes, ripped a string, perfect again, ripped another and still sweet music to my ears. Then i decided to let it all rip and empty the hopper, one break occured BUT it was after the ball already left the barrel, so barrel is still squeeky clean.
For those concerned with rollback: being open face sure there will be room for the ball to fall into the bolt, but after testing it out i found that it wasnt enough for a second ball to peak through. so let not your heart be troubled.
As for velocity, i dont have access to a chrono at home so i couldnt tell if there was an FPS increase.
Overview: i don't wanna jump to conclusions just yet as to why i got so many barrel breaks, but so far i am very satisfied with my bolt. i believe that the open face design offers a better flow and due to the conforming of the balls shape, results in a bit more gentle on bad/brittle paint. Sure it is $65 a bolt, but from my experience so far, the stop in paint breakage is worth every penny.
