hey, why lock the thread on the scammer? i pm'ed and aim'ed but got no answer so ill post it here and see.

its this thread: http://www.angel-owners.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4709

some people might have some more info on him or it might help keep someone from getting scammed by him. hes known as SFPlaya AKA SteveO AKA Steven Lutz

i realllly think this needs be known to the board so everyone can be informed, not locked out and hid away for what ever reason. its obvious, even to the naive person, that hes trying to scam people big time.

let me know. it SHOULD be let known to the group. imo, it even needs made a sticky.

First off, if you'd clean out your PM box you can get PM's back. Second I've said it before and I'll say it again NOONE has the right to post personal information on another user. That includes you. Postin another users e-mail address, or personal information is not okay as it's not made public by the user. Oh and as for why you didn't get through on AIM it's because I don't accept random IM's from people I don't know on a regular basis.

oooohhh, i see. its ok for someone to go do everything possible to scam users of this board for thier hard earned cash, but do not, and thats a big DO NOT, let anyone know who they are. no, never do something that evil. that wouldnt be fair to the scammer now would it? he needs all the privacy he can get to keep his scams operational. play fair with him, because he is with you.

no one here has any idea if he even got any cash from anyone, nor if someones planning on send him any cash unknowingly, unless somebody lets the cat out of the bag to keep someone from loosing to this scumbag.

i found out about it because someone sent me the link about what was going on, but if it had been deleted, moved, edited, or locked, they wouldnt have known, neither would i, nor the next person that needs to know about this guy (and the others to follow).

as for the personal info, 90% it came from various posts already on this board he put up himself under his various names, and the other 10% from the emails he sent to several people whom contaced him about buying the dark, so it wasnt anthing he was trying to hide. he sent the name and address asking for them to send $1100 cash for the dark he doesnt even have. he doenst take money orders, no cashiers checks, no paypal - just the cash or western union only. all the info posted was all freely given out by him in order to rip people off. all i did was put it together in one spot and spell it out for everyone.

there were 16pms in my box. if it had been full, i would have thought there would have been some type of notification, email or otherwise, which it seems like i did once before, but maybe that was on AO, anyway, that section is a done deal.

i saw NO reason to lock the thread, other than to offer him more privacy and secrecy to rip off unaware buyers.

now, lock this thread, or remove some of it, or delete it. that seems to the going thing around here.

the reason for not letting you post personal information is to cover our asses. WE dont want held liable for what you do w/ that information. If you want to share that info you can pm the other members or email them.

i dont see that it would be physically possible to pm or email individually each of the 5000+ members of this board to make them aware of this scammer in advance. thats why members read the boards and post messages.

you can make them aware that he scammed you just dont give personal info...

not to be ironic, but how can that be let known if when i post the info of the person that is trying to scam people gets deleted, edited, erased, locked, etc?

how would or could that warn the next person of this board who is in the classified section of this forum and getting ready to buy from this guy - maybe even tonight - if you cant even post who the he is, or any of them for that matter?

well i dont know what happened, but i say its ok to post the persons username and tell everyone to be aware that you got scammed... just no personal info.

well, i guess if thats how you guys want it.

in my personal opinion, i dont think hiding the info helps anyone, and seeing as how in 5 min i could have 10 different user names on this board, i think posting a user name doesnt help a whole lot. he knowingly had at LEAST two.

AND if you read the story, less what got erased and edited, i didnt get scammed, however, i did keep one guy from mailing $1100 cash to him. the only part i played in it was figuring out who he was, and the fact that he inquired about a marker i had for sale and used those pictures to post the fake auction to rip people off.

Do you not think that if someone tries to scam someone else on the internet that their anonimity should be forfit? Seems fair to me to protect everyone else.

This whole thread sucks.... 1. someone got ripped. 2. AOG has a responsibility/liability issue. 3. Hanging is too good for horse thieves, but illegal.

I remember reading about similar scams and the threads lead me to belive that there was a vigilante squad on the way to Cali. What if the name was bogus and some innocent individual suffered the wrath of a scorned baller? If AOG does not manage information suitably, they could be held liable in civial/criminal court. I hear ya...AND a lawyer would have a field day with this one. personal views, nothing personal, and no flames...

You guys talk about liability and stuff, and none comparison topics... well how do you expect to be really popular board? i mean look at pbnation.com i mean WOW there are so many people and stuff that you guys go against, they allow freely. its almost as though you support scammers, i mean i know you dont but... anyways with out post like the one you guys closed, i think bad things would happen. if stuff happens people need to know who what where in order to make the world a better place... IMO my $.02

So what you're saying is by allowing controversy and flames we'll become popular? Well if that's what it takes then I would be happy to stay right we are. Almost 6,000 members and growing daily.

I'll post this quote again..
