ok let me start by saying i dont call this adjusting the ram stroke.to me were adjusting the hammer.ok for starters you will need the tool from your angel tool kit.(its the one with the 2 metal points ok ok the 2 tits.)remove the breach rod knob.then remove the 2 screws holding the back plate.carfully pull some slack on the wire harness and let it hang.open the breach and oops!i forgot to say de-gas the gun.go back and do that first.ok lets go back and open the breach.start turning the ram clockwise a tiny bit at a time and close the breach.what you want to have happen is the pin in the bolt to click into the brass hammer.now in saying this it could click if its too far to the rear as well so keep this in mind.the reason for keeping this adjustment correct is 2 fold.first is to allow the ball to rest in the cup of the bolt and not to let the bolt slam the ball befor it leaves the breach.this will help in ball breakage or balls "blowing up"in the breach.and secondly it will keep the ram from chipping and leaving brass shavings in the ram area.hope this helps.

also i am going to remove the stickys as soon as i can get matt to give me a technical heading under the led,lcd,ir3 section

So Ken it should "click" against the front part of the hammer? If I read this correctly that is.

Ken.....do u have to have the marker gased up while ajust the ram stroke???.....also....should u ajust the ram stroke first or the snap ring????......also,if the ram stroke is not set right will u have low max velocity???.....

no its easier to do it with the gun de-gassed.you wont get much if any loss of velocity if the ram is out of adjustment.set the snap ring after.that will be part 4.

Ken: about the ram - hammer installation I found somewhere (don't remember where/from whom) the following question and I would like your opinion about that:

"Is it normal for it to kinda have like a resistance kinda snap at the end when it is fully pushed back? It slides freely, then meets resistance, then kinda "snaps" into place at the end of the stroke when the hammer is in the full back location and the RAM is out of my marker. Is this normal? "

...one more question: we have to apply grease at the rod right? and also at any moving part (exept from the bolt lol) ...what about put 2 drops of love juice at the rod in order to make the movement easier ?

thanx...

hi ken, if my hammer has marks to the front of it (where the bolt pin sits), does that mean that the hammer is way too far back? or if my hammer has marks on the back, does that mean that i adjusted the hammer too far forward?

ken,

question that maybe you can answer. when i adjust the ram the way you say with it degassed. the breech doesnt open. so i redid it with air in it. now i know that with the ram all the way forward the breech doesnt open. should it not open while teh marker is gassed?

turn the ram tool counter-clockwise and that will pull it back if thats what your are talking about.

Hey Ken, my bolt seems to 'click' into place no matter how I adjust the ram. My gun was shooting great, then I thought I'd be extra-fancy and adjust my ram, and then I got tons of barrell breaks. So I guess I adjusted it wrong. (Yeah I know, if it ain't broke don't fix it - I just couldn't resist the temptation to mess around with it a little...)

I've backed the ram out to where I think it was before, and then moved it in a little again because the manual says to always set it going clockwise (in). But I'm not sure how to tell when I've gotten it right. It always 'clicks' in one way or another no matter how the ram is set.

If I close the breech really slowly, and look as the bolt-pin slipping into the groove in the hammer, it looks like they line up exactly. Is that right? Do I just need to go shoot some more paint and see how it goes?

no way it's gonna click no matter how it's adjusted,

is your gun pressurized while you're adjusting the ram? because you should be adjusting it while aired otherwise the hammer could just move around freely

So what is the overall goal I'm aiming for here? The manual says to 'rotate the ram assembly clockwise until slight resistance is felt in opening the breech block'. Is the idea to have the front of the bolt exactly flush with the front of the block? Or should the bolt stick ahead of the block, or slightly behind? Or am I missing the point completely? :again:

With the marker gassed, when I shine a flashlight down into the breech and slowly close the breech-block, I can see the bolt slip ever so slightly forward as it drops into its final position. (So it's resting just a little ahead of the block, and I feel just a little resistance as I then open the block. I mean a very little, I have to pay attention to feel it.)

That sounds right according to these posts and to the manual. Comments?

Sorry to resurect this thread. But I would like to know what Hooha was asking also. Where is the optimal sitting position of the bolt? Perfectly in line, in front, or behind the front of the breech block? :)
