View Full Version : Halo and Speed 05 incompatible

When I first bought my 05 speed a year ago, I put a Halo on top of it. It took me three months and lots of troubleshooting to get the speed to stop breaking paint.

I did lots of things like lowering LPR pressure, added volumizer, got two different types of barrel kits and changed from a Halo to an Egg. Eventually I got the paint blender to act like a marker.

So, yesterday I got my courage up enough to put the Halo(with fresh batteries) back on top and see how the marker worked. It worked for a while (three or four games) and then it seemed to stop suddenly. Paint was oozing out the barrel and broken ball shells were falling out the barrel when I pulled the trigger.

I put the Egg back on top and not a problem after.

I know there are lots of folks here with Halos and they love them. But in my particular case, I am convinced the halo won't work on my speed 05.

End of story for halos and me.

my friends halo works great with his speed which he just sold for an ego. maybe its just bad karma:notsure:

Damn thats really wierd, I've heard of the Halo having problems with the Angel 4 but it should be perfectly normal with the eyes on a speed 05, hmmmm :notsure:

i dunno. can't explain it. The egg holds more paint and that's a plus too in my book.

Well since u cant use a Halo, if u dont have ure egg z-boarded do it, u can buy it cheap like 20 bux it increases the feed rate from 17-19 to 23+, on ebay u can even get the zboard for like 5 bux.

yes but... according to Ken Crane, ram adjustment or misadjustment is not a factor in chopping in speed 05's.

but yes, it's correctly adjusted.

Do you really use batteries or akkus? If it's akkus, it can be the root of your Problems! I tell you if you say, that you use akkus.

i used to break paint with my halo w/v board but i just came home set the loader type (on the gun) to three lights and then adjusted the ram to where there was a click when you open and close the breech and all of my chopping problems have been solved

Another thing you should check out:
take your barrel off with the loaded hopper on the gun (for safety's sake, leave the gun OFF) and look into the breach. It sounds like your halo is forcing like 1.15 balls into the breach. So you when the gun fires it destroys the bottom of the second ball. Which most likely gets paint all over the eyes, which makes them thing they're blocked which causes more chops. :-D

Anyway, sorry for the rant, check to see that you aren't partially double feeding.
