yes really.....making a silencer or a noise suppresor is illegal and falls under the jurisdiction of the ATF........hence it's a rain cover

really all you have to do is wrap your barrel in acoustin damping foam, you can find it a lot of music supply stores it's like insulation that they put in walls of studios etc. and then find a way to secure it to the barrel.

the reason they are considered illegal according to the ATF is because the law is so broad. It basically says anything that can be used to dampen or change the sounds signature and/or modified to fit a real firearm is considered illegal. That's one of the reasons that BOA doesn't make some of their barrels anymore, and whole host of other issues.

It can also be called a barrel extension.

you can silence the barrel and any noise off of that, but that still doesn't take care of the bolt making noise. I don't think one will ever be that quiet.

Angels are very quiet anyway...unless you are dry firing them. Hey, 2K1...nice rain cover/barrel extention!!

dont even bother using that silencer, first of angels arnt that lound and noise doesnt really even matter in a game, woods or speedball or tourney, and its gona throw your aim and your distance off, you will shoot slower, shorter and less acurate with that on and it will make you look like a moron, and covering the whole illegal issue, anything that can be put on a real firearm that would make it quiter when shot is illegal so technically me putting a pillow against your head then shooting your brains out would make me using the pillow illegal. besides that shooting someone is, just to say, a pillow can be used to quite a gun shot, so yeah technically its illegal but no ones gona do anything, you could wave it infront of a cop and they woudlnt do anything

Well i'm gona use it I took a whole 10 min out of my day to make it :rrrright: I just wanted to see if it would make a difference at all I made it for a scenario game and it should be worth while at night when you can't see anything.

SOmeone, forgot who, and too lazy to look back thru this thread, and also dont wana name any names, said that silencers are useless. After experiencing MANY ambushes from people and not knowing where any shots came from...I have decided silencers are incredibly valuable for woods games, and even speedball.

Don't have a closed mind, just try to understand what i'm saying:

Your playing hyperball. The players your playing with follow the rules, and don't hint their friends about players positions after their dead. You sneak up to the snake, bunker your enemy, and they are cluless as to where he got shot from because it was so damn quiet. All they saw was him walking out with a big mark on his leg. They did not hear where the shot came from. Now its time to back door them, and snipe them all in the back. I did this in a game with my angel because it was so quiet they didnt realize I had bunkered their other player. I shot three people in the back after I bunkered that one guy. Silencers are VERY useful for concealing your position, in any game type. Although personally I like my gun loud sometimes, because I feel its intimidating (: I just want you guys to be open minded to silencers.

That was my intention the whole time, remember its for a scenario game.

I remember making "barrel extentions" for the old tippmann pumps, cuz they are as loud as a bazooka when shot. The noise was greatly reduced and it DID help conceal your position. Mind you, this is in the day when they sold these items from the shelf. Now that they have been "demonized" by our government, I wouldn't risk the fines, inprisonment or other hassels by having one. I think you can get a liscesne for one....it used to cost $200/year.

trust me, I've played more than my fair share of Scenario games (I used to be part of the Mayberry Marauders) and you don't see the "rain covers" quite as much anymore, basically because of all the legalities and what it really truly is. Plus paintball markers are a lot quieter today than they were a few years ago.

i've been doing scenarios for almost 5 years now, and can only remember one time when someone had a silencer. Anyway the feilds are all on private lands and the cops can't come back there and if they do they can't arrest you unless its for something really serious, trust me on that its happned before.

aaaah...don't be too sure about that. ATF set in my living room for 2 hours discussing pryo devises and a local bombing. I wouldn't stick my tounge out at them, and I sure wouldn't want my name on their list again. My private field was discovered by a DEA helio and they thought it was a crack factory with all the barrels around. I only trust that I will not do any thing to get my a__ busted. IMO, no flames...
