i have a stiffi one piece (not Kit) now...love it

personally, instead of stiffi, maybe CP 2 piece, or SM-1

If you can afford a barrel kit, my choice is the SM-1 Orbium-3 kit.

I've got a Stiffi switch kit an I'm very happy with it. Only downside with the stiffi is that you are required to use a rubber squeegie. You can't clean it out with a swab.

wow suprised no one has said an ultralite.. alright well I'll say it.

"ULTRALITE!" in my opinion, nothing better.

i would go with a ultralite, stiffi, or a cp barrel...though not necessarily in that order ;)

Custom made .692 JackoStick is my personal favorite. Regardless of most people's preferences most barrels out there work about that same. The big trick is paint to barrel match for getting the most for you barrel. If you only shoot one type of paint then any barrel matched for the paint you shoot will perform about the same. If you are always using different sized paint then either a barrel kit or a big bore barrel that will shoot everything is what you need. As a back player I prefer a big bore. Breaks if any generally do not even effect the accuracy of your marker and if you have to swab your barrel the swabs/squeegee's go in so much easier and faster.

I'm going to agree with El Pirata on this one, because with the stock barrel, a good paint match is hard to beat, but as of kits, the freak and scepter have the most inserts that I know of (the scepter is supposed to be better), but the inserts are very fragile. If you want durability the go for a cp or orbium, they have a medium-large amont of bore sizers, and are durable due to not having inserts. If you want a extremely hi polished barrel I recommend an ultralite, very accurate, but somewhat delicate (not too bad), they have a lack of bore sizes though. If you want super light, go with the stiffi, on a bad side, as mentioned you can't use a fuzzy swab thing, and they run the chance of unbalancing you gun. If you use a drop foreward you should be fine with a stiffi. My friend has one on his cocker, and it is very nice, but it is very hard to get the bore sizer off, the front of the barrel comes off, but the size is stuck on your gun if you don't use an allen wrench to unscrew it. If you want even more opinions about barrels, then I recommend pbreview.com It is a very honest, unbiased source for reviews.

I don't agree on your last sentance, pbreview is known for being cluttered with corporate spam which praises their own products and disses other peoples products. Best route to take is to ask on forums like the op did. :)

Anyone else notice the Angel has a tendency to lob the paintball with a very pronounced downward hook at the end.

Yesterday, my buddy Tim I were doing some barrel tests and I noted with the exact same barrel, and same paint that my Tippmann A5 was far more accurate than my G7, which was a bit frustrating.

This held true for:

Stiffi 12” & 14”- Same paint, same barrel, same size inserts, different insert kits.
Hammerhead 10” & 12”- Same paint, same barrel, same size inserts, different insert kits.
Dye Boom Stick-Different barrels same paint.

The flattest trajectory was defiantly the Stiffi, but the accuracy was about the same as the stock barrel.

Is the Orbium any better?

You're right, the UL is very accurate and very good looking!!!

Dye Ultralite 16 inch, i use it with my G7 and it never lets me down. Get titanium if youcan afford it, it weighs out the gun a bit better

Regarding the difference in accuracy between the A5 and the Angel. Did you chrono your markers at the same speed? I know I might be stating the obvious but even if you use the same paint with the same barrels and insert. Different kind of markers will result in different velocities hence difference in range and accuracy.
So when you want to compare two setups you have to make sure they are shooting at the exact velocity.

285 FPS and the Angel has less variance than the A5.

I have shot an A-5 and an Angel Speed 05 after one another, with different barrels, and have never seen this myself.

Makes no sense how at the end of a shot (at velocity drop off downfield), the balls could possibly lob coming from the Angel.

BTW - WTF is up with that new avatar ITO?

Here is a follow up in case anyone is reading...

Collin and Robert over at Hammerhead feel like this is a velocity issue. So I am playing around with velocity to see what works best and what speeds work the best. Apparently 285fps works great for the Tippmann A5 but not so good for Angel.
