Since i live in a backwater area and im lazy too..
WHo currently makes the new G7 Fly barrels ?
So far the only makers ive heard of is CP ?
Ken stated they will make an adapter, but i dont plan to buy old angel type barrel threads and an adapter.
So if any of you know other companies who make the new threads please enlighten us :)
(yes i got my gloss red fly last night finally, and now itching to get a barrelset to match ;))

cool thx. now being from abroad i have to consider what i buy and making a "short call" isnt really an option(well it is but im 100% too cheap to spend enough money on a call that would get me a bag of paint ;) )
So every bit of help is greatly appreciated in this :)
Also im sure other G7 Fly owners and future owners would like to know when where and if their specific fave brand of barrel will be available for it ;)

11-05-2005, 06:38 PM
if the barrel threads are similar of course they might be able to used, but somehow i doubt it s a perfect match.. since the threads prolly dont have the exact same measurements.. and since its not a snug perfect fit, the result is not going to be pretty once you start to rip paint thru..
I wouldnt recommend using anything but the specific barrles for what ever gun unless specified they actually fit.

Tried to see if Sanchez Machine's MT Orbium 3 would be available for the G7 Fly. To my surprise their web site is gone! Did some searches and no one carries them anymore for Angel's of the newer models currently offered. This just bites. I will call them tomorrow and see if they are still in business or would possibly still make these barrel sets. I got a contact that said he would Teflon coat the ID's of the barrel inserts once I hone them out a thou or so. I'm really curious to see if it make any sizable difference to performance.
So anyone know anything about Sanchez Machine?
Deanomatic
11-06-2005, 03:06 PM
the reason for the A5 barrel threads on some dont match is because its not the exact same barrel threads.. just because it "feels" like they fit does not mean they are the same size..
So unless you have measurements down and can prove they are the same numbers .. they arent.. simply because as you said..some barrel kits dont match, and if it was a uniform thread it should match ALL the A5 barrel kits .
The point is they may be very close in size, and feel the same, but ultimately they arent, and using a thread that is even a little off will eventually ruin the threads on both barrel and gun.
As for Sanchez machine, i inquired with FMA, via email and no answer about this so far and this was over a month ago, so i dont think anyone knows whats going on with that.
dusted
11-06-2005, 05:35 PM
the threads are the exact same, some of the barrel does not fit inside of fly body is the difference. if you do not believe me just call wdp in huntington beach and ask to speak to c.j. or owen, i know both and they will tell u the same.

I'm sure the threads are close as you all say. I know the Angles are metric threads for sure. You can also "match" very closely English threads of similar size. The pitch between the two is slightly different though. Combine that with "thread tolerance" and some will fit and others will not. All depends on who and how the threads are machined. How the hell do I know that you say? I'm a class A machinist that's why. One thread is not the same as the next. Never once heard that the two are interchangeable. Until I put some measuring tools to the 2 of them I can't say for sure. But as it was already said. Mating two parts that are close and not an exact match is a recipe for major pain.

When stating something as a fact, and it can potentially cause ppl to go out and use and possibly ruin a 1200+ gun, well all im asking for is proof other then a mere "im pretty sure" or "it feels like they match"
So with everything else regarding the maintenance and care of the marker, unless a certified Tech tells me otherwise or someone can actually prove this by measuring the actual threads trying to use a 50 barrel set and potentially ruining your new gun would be .. well ya know..
And yes i tried with the stock A5 barrel too and no it isnt a perfect match.. its def not the same 100% snug "feel" when screwing it in. there is a minimal amount of play in the threads that the stock barrel lacks.

Okay I'm looking at getting a new barrel for my G7 Fly and I've got a few that I'm considering: Warped Sportz Lucky 15, Dye Ultralite, SP Freak Kit, Stiffi or a CP Two Piece. What do you guys think or is there another barrel not mentioned that I should get?
As far as I know, SP hasn't jumped on to make the new threads. I'm a huge fan of CP. So of course I'm going to say go with CP.

CP Full barrel set.
Dye: sizes ??
Stiffi: barrel set not confirmed
just got mail back from Redz, they wont be making the new peppersticks in the new threads.. the sets arsenal use were made before production was decided for old style only :(

I recently bought a Dye UL for my fly and I noticed from feeling inside the breech with my finger that there seems to be a lip/edge between the breech and the barrel (and yes, it has the fly threads). I don't think that it is enought to have any effect, but I haven't shot any paint through it yet. Has anyone else experienced this?

That's normal. The breech is unisized for all paint while the barrel will have a much smaller diameter.

well i just oredred my cp and i am very happy with it the size checked out under the micrometers. it's pretty light and i think i am going to purchase the stiffi tip only because i ordred the front in red and it came out looking more like pink. oh well it shoots great and i can shoot some crappy paint out of the .693. CP is very fast at processing orders i ordered it from them on saturday and i had it next dayed from arizona to chicago, i had the barrel on tuesday.

I was thinking of getting the full freak over the Switch kit, what do you guys think? They both have their pros and cons, but I want a very quite barrel kit with a wide range of bore sizes becuase the tournaments that I go to sometimes have weird sized paint. I like the idea of the inserts for the freak, though I like the idea of having a carbon fiber barrel. I dont know what to get.:notsure:

Other than they are overpriced, only go up to .693 bore, and cannot be cleaned with a redz or any other furry type swab. Don't get me wrong, they are great barrel systems but they do have their limitations.

Still on topic... It’s not easy for me with living in the UK to get hold of the Stiffi mamba kit... I run the Dye- Ultra light on my G7 Fly’s at the moment, but am thinking of shipping over the mamba kit.. Is it worth all the hassle?

it was for me, i love the Dye ULs, but after i tried the switch kit for my fly..
im not going back.
They shoot equally good, and this is just my personal opinion, the stiffi shoots through barrel breaks a LOT better.
which helped a lot this weekend when my team and i took 2nd place at the CPAopen, i didnt waste a lot of time using my squeege as i was shooting thru some thick fill paint easy ( Zap Chronic) all at -5 Celsius.
But it is expensive, the hassle isnt bad at all.. took them 1 week to ship it to me after placing and paying for my order.
