Ok im getting a lot of mixed info here aboot this bug and the fix. From Ken's post if your Speed isnt shutting down randomly then you dont have an issue...however I keep hearing people talk about the speed just stop shooting and sometimes turning it on and off works other times it does not...however they get their boards flashed to the 7 software for this issue...The reason I ask is my buddies 05 Speed just stops shooting sometimes and I want to know if flashing the board will fix this?

There are many variables in a speed not shooting such as dirty eyes or eyes not detecting paint for whatever reason, trigger adjustment and the actual shutdown issue. If the speed is having a problem with not shooting and it is version 5 or higher then it is most definately not the shutdown issue. In that case you need to look into the eyes, paint or trigger.

i know this is almost dumb but it happened to my son so I'll add it here, he thought he had the bright light shutdown issue but it turned out to be a weak battery. Every time he took the marker out and started firing it during a game, it would just stop shooting but the lights on the grip stayed on. So I took the marker from him, used it in a game and had the same experience only this time the battery was so weak it actually turned the marker off.

Moral of the story, make sure you've got a good battery.

Matt this is your speed im talking aboot you hoser

And yea we might think its the battery but I think the board is at version 2..then again my remember numbers is terrible. The eyes arent dirty and the trigger adjustment is fine..but it does seem to be whenever you switch sides to shot on that it does this...but we thinks its battery...so I am right in reading kens post that this issue is not he shutdown issue?

also, sometimes when you turn the angel on, it will say the battery is fully charged, but when you start shooting it just dies out. this just shows that the battery meter when booting up the speed is sometimes inaccurate and your battery could just be dead

I could not agree more. The meter overestimates the remaining battery capacity.

How about this guys. My silver speed had the same problem. When I let a teammate use it he ran to bunker a guy and the gun didn't shoot. Well this is what I found to be the problem. 9v batteries don't have a standard size. some are taller than others. The particular brand that I was using (duracell) wouldn't fit tight enough. So what I did was I made a small shim out of plastic. Now granted the shim was only like 1/16th of an inch or maybe a little more it pushed that battery against the connectors tighter, and I haven't had a problem since.

I consider shims and spacers the same. But my answer is still better since it was the longer one.
