OK, when i first got my speed i didnt have a volumizer and my gun never had any drop off problems. I checked my lpr once then and it had only 3 shims in it but i didnt have a gaugeto see what the pressure was. I just put a large volumizer on it so I took out 1 of the shims so now i only have 2 in it. I suppose i can do this but now the lpr is realy low enough that i can stop the bolt with my pinky. I dont have a gauge so i have NO clue what my lpr is at and if its too low and if it will cause drop off and other problems. I need help. How many shims do u guys have in your guns and can you stop your bolt with your finger.

It is hard to tell you how many shims will give you what because all the LPR's are slightly different. Some can have up to say 11 and some as low as 1 or none. It just depends how the LPR performs in your gun (every gun is slightly different).

I have been hearing that most of the 05's LPR are coming from WDP at about 65-75psi or so. That is what people on here have been reporting.

If the LPR is too low, you will get drop off or first shot drop off (FSDO). You can even get inconsistent velocity readings.

How does it perform with just two shims?

well i have only shot like 50 balls out of it but i think the first ball is like 5 feet behind the second. But the big thing is how i can stop the bolt real easy with one finger. Can u do that with yours

$60 bucks gets you a tool kit which includes a pressure gauge so you don't have to guess.

im going to guess that your LPR is around 40 or 35 psi...I took 2 shims out of my buddies speed 05 and the LPR was around there..however he does not have a volumizer on the gun so its possible your LPR is a bit lower...but its more then likely in the 30 psi range and its not uncommon for slight FSDO when running at lower LPR pressures

I learned that. Low LPR = FSDO

Not necessarily true. Low LPR pressure without volumizer(s) MAY lead to FSDO.

Could also be your dwell.

i'd be very surprised to see an unmodified speed running even close to 35psi without any dropoff....

but then again, i could be wrong....

That is quit low at 35 and you can really no way gauge your speed with someone elses in respect of just removing shims. Every marker is different.

Agree with you and Hep.

There are too many variables.

And from what I've read, you can't compare number of shims in one gun to the same number in another.

I know my son's speed 05 had different numbers of shims than mine did, yet both were set to factory stock LPR pressure.
