This will be my first Angel, so I have a few questions I'd like to ask you folks who have used one for awhile. I have been, up until now, a purely mechanical gun owner of various brands from simple pumps, to cheap semis, to more expensive semis. I've been playing on/off for about 15 years, mostly for recreation.
1. This is really a technical question: Why is it better to tune an Angel with an adjustable (and much more expensive) adjustable psi tank, than a fixed tank? I just cannot see how adding a variable to the tuning equation makes things "better" or easier to tune?
2. Is it absolutely critical to also buy the Angel tool kit, or can the gun be maintained normally without it? I assume you can field-strip and clean this gun w/o these extra tools, right?
3. I'm still not sure why a multiple-regulator gun requires low-pressure input. Isn't that the job of the regulators?
4. Assuming out of the box and around 285fps, what is the typical efficiency I should expect?
5. Finally: I'm looking for a gun that is reliable. Assuming normal maintenance is done, how robust are these markers? I play mostly during the summer months, so there will be long periods of non-use during Seattle's rainy season :). How reliable have you folks found these markers to be. What is the worst amount of abuse you've ever done to your marker, and what was the outcome?
Thanks in advance. Your answers will likely spell whether I move forward with my purchase or not.

1. :notsure:
2. its not absolutly critical to buy the tool kit. and the only feild stripping that u will be doin is takin the bolt out and wipin it off but DONT OIL IT i made this mistake once and the bolt swells up causing a lot of wear on the bolt and in the gun. then after a few days of play u might need to take the ram out and oil the o- rings and make sure none are broken.
3. :notsure: again
4. for the first shot after i air it up i get about 200- 210 but then it jumps to around 285 and stays there in the high 200s.
5.this gun is extremly reliable. ive had other guns in the past that would break all the time but ive had this gun for about 1 and a half months. i have played in one tourny and many other days of play with it and it hasnt broken on me once like past guns. and i play front so this gun is constanly hitting the ground and getting dirty.

Thanks for the quick reply. I look forward to hearing from others. The response from #5 is very promising to me.
Additional question: I'm thinking of purchasing from FixMyAngel.Com. Anyone who has done business with them please feel free to tell me about your experience with them. Again, customer support/service is high up there on my list of criteria when thinking about purchasing an Angel.

I would say that there's more to field stripping than removing the bolt but it depends on your definition of field stripping, I guess.
every 8000 balls through the marker, you add a couple drops of oil via the asa. Every 20000 balls, you take the marker down to parade rest (I would call this field stripping) and grease all the moving parts inside.
You can get by without a tool kit. I have an older angel and I think you pretty much have to have the tool kit on the LCD to get the ram out but for the speed you can get away without it. The question will be, "do you really want to do that?" Because, as you use the gun you'll find little tweaks that you want to make. In my case, my speed worked like a blender on paint when I took it out of the box. As a result, I lowered the LPR pressure and you have to have the tool kit if you're going to do that by yourself. Another point, if you're going to spend $1000 plus dollars on a marker, isn't $60 bucks a reasonable investment given it will be used to maintain your $1000 marker?
Efficiency will depend on your dwell settings. Again, if you start to make tweaks (and yes I adjusted my dwell in an attempt to stop the blender action), you'll affect your efficiency. I assume by efficiency you mean how many shots for a tank of air, right? If so, I'd say (though I don't have numbers to back this up) don't worry about efficiency. I can shoot 2000 balls and won't have to air up the tank but once and I'll still have some air left on the second tank.
I recommend you ask an MT (Master Tech) questions 1 and 3. You can find some here or at your angel dealer (probably).

These markers are the tippmanns of high-end electros...........in other words they are tanks! Very low maint. required compared to other high-ends and super reliable :patriot:

Glad you mentioned that as my second marker was a M98C Tippmann. Hopefully, the Speed 05 doesn't weigh as much as that ol' tippy -- rugged, and weighed a ton ;)
Thanks for the answers so far. I'm really leaning towards purchasing...
