Since its pretty early and no one made a thread yet i figured i would...

its been 4 years since that day and im sure its all fresh in our minds like it was yesterday. i was actually in the city today and as i looked at the skyline... i thought to myself...wow those are some huge buildings, it was then that i finally grasped the enormity and vastness that the twin towers had over that skyline. i'm sure there will be specials on tv to commemorate this anniversary. everytime i see that vid of the second plane hit the tower i feel a sense of anger and yet at the same time cant help but shed a tear...

All politics aside, let's just take this day as a tribute to the fallen americans.

To the people in the planes that hit the towers
To the people in the plane that hit the pentagon
To the people who fought back to take control of the plane
To the people in the towers
To the NYPD and FDNY
And to the family members of all those above

We will never forget... that's a promise.

I was at work already. By the time I heard about the second plane I knew all hell was breaking loose and being in the army, knowing that they can and will overreact from time to time, I had all my squad leaders start tracking down each and every swinging richard and getting them to the office. As it seems an hour later the command ordered that one for the entire post too.

I actually was able to leave the base that afternoon to meet with my lawyer to file for divorce, submitted on Sept 11th and approved on Oct 10th.

:patriot:Wow, very well said.

I was at work when it happened. I happen to have a TV in my office. The entire company was in my office the whole day just watching the coverage. It still seems so crazy. Still cannot believe that it happened. I am still in shock.

I was at sea, doing what ballistic missile submarines do. We were able to copy commercial radio broadcasts and get near real time updates of what was going on.

I had one sailor who's fiance worked in the towers. He didn't know for six weeks whether she was alive or not.

Here's a link I found on the subject: http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/September%2011,%202001%20attacks

One of the things we didn't get being on a submarine was news reports and video. We heard for two months how horrible it was but we didn't see it. Then someone sent us a video of just two hours or so of news reports.

i remember exactly where i was... i was a senior in high school. there i was in my guidance office waiting to get something signed. when i hear one of the secretaries on the phone say "what hit the tower? oh a plane? oh alright" then she hung up the phone with the impression it was just some small plane that steered off course... (so technically i was like the first person in my school to hear about it. then half an hour later more and more kids started talking and recieving cell phone calls in class... i was in the chior room (which had a radio), and our teacher let us listen to the news for updates. and as she turn on the radio within a few minutes the person on the radio said "the towers are falling!" at that very second countless student burst into tears due to there parents working at or near the towers...luckily, thank God, none of their parents were harmed.

i was in between jobs and was at home and initially thought it was like the original "war of the worlds" radio broadcast. but once i turned on tv i realized it was not a hoax and was horrified. i watched nothing but news coverage for two weeks and was emotionally and physically drained. i will never forget and will always be thankful of the people who gave there lives to help others survive. :patriot: :patriot: :patriot: :patriot: :patriot: :patriot: :patriot: :patriot:

Our CO came over the 1MC saying a plane had crashed into the WTC. Most people blew it off as some dumb pilot crashing a small Cessna. It wasn't until we got to the shop that we got online and saw what had really happened. We ended up refreshing the news page every minute and saw the updates on the second plane hitting. The first tower collapsing. The second tower collapsing. It was just unbelievable that something could topple these two huge buildings.
We had over 600 civilians onboard for our "tiger cruise", and rumors went nuts, saying that we'd turn back to hawaii, hit san diego to resupply and leave, just sit off the coast to fly people off then leave, etc..
We arrived back on Sep 14th, to a level of security I hadn't dealt with before.

Only someone in the military talks like that. Anyway, sorry back on track...

Well I was a senior when it happened. I had joined the Army only 2 weeks earlier. When the first building was struck, the first thing on my mind, "WTF did Osama do now?!" Oh I was in bed to, so it was a crazy way to wake up (Mountain Time Zone). When I got to school (I was late from watching news all morning) I came into class yelling at the teacher to turn the TV on. She thought it was some joke, until she turned on the TV. That was a crazy day, very emotional.
