View Full Version : Colored Lazer Eyes

I would like to see new Lazer eyes, in different colors other than red. As to match any anodizing colors of the gun. Like Blue Lazers for a Black to blue fade gun. What do you guys think?

thats not a bad idea. i dont see how that would be too hard to do.

they have blue laser eyes for dm4/5/c's so it probably wouldnt be to much longer before they make some other colours for angels. wouldnt be surprised if some enterprising baller doesnt come up with some sort of home made' version of it for the angels...

sounds like a cool idea but i still think red better sutes the whole laser idea

i've seen it done on an ion on pbn, he said it was pretty easy to do...

you might just be able to make a filter

actually no that probably would not work you could only take away the red with a filter i belive not change the color

i think lazers have to be red to have the really good seeing affect or else it would be just like non lazer eyes

i dont care wat color

if u want the best then green. green is a stronger laser if im not mistaken

ive heard you need darker colors to be strong enough.like if you got yellow you would have to find a way to put more power to the eyes

NickyD
10-13-2005, 09:19 PM
Actually, Green lasers are stronger than the red ones.

But with all the diodes and things like that I could never ever mess with a laser. But like someone else said (I'm too lazy to quote) you can change the color of the lazer without affecting the performance.

But does it really matter? You never see the eyes unless you take off the hopper and look down the feedneck.

It doens't matter too much. But laser eyes were more for the "cool" factor anyways. All you have to do is check the specs of the eye diodes, then get the same type in a different color. Hardest part would be making the connector.

They already do sell blue ones on tagsportz
And yes green is the most powerful in fact you can see the entire beam they are also quite a bit more expensive

all the lazer eyes are is the same as the original WDP eyes they just emit in the visible red spectrum of light rather than the infra-red. changing the color is essentially just changing the emitted wavelength. different colors aren't any stronger or weaker, the only difference is the amount of energy it takes to make it. infra-red=low energy=not as much power to emit, red light is a little more but not much, blue or ultraviolet would just take more energy doesn't mean it'll see things better or worse, it's still break beam technology so as long as whatever "lazer" your emitting gets broken with a paintball, it'll work.

green just looks stronger (with laser pointers and such) because of it's place on the visible spectrum, it's just easier to see.

Couldnt of said it better myslef. someone loves lasers as much as me.. or he did some searching online ;)

but yes lasers are cool ... lol

Guys if they were true laser diodes the power consumed by the gun and heat emitted would be pretty unrealistic for a battery pack and they way they are used in the guns. I think they are just LED emitters with a matched opposing collector. Now dependant on the LED size it would be possible to switch out colors. Getting real fancy you could use a single multi colored one with a small opto switching circuit so it would cycle through a few different colors. I suppose with enough tinkering you could make it any color you wanted dependant on how well you can reproduce the LED optical lens focal length to the collector.

i'm pretty sure they're laser diodes. that's why they made them red though becuase it's the lowest energy in the visible spectrum. i agree that a blue or green laser might be a bit of tax on the power supply, but if they're doing it with dm's i don't doubt it can be done with angel eyes. we're not talking huge energy differences. i mean look how long laser pointers last on batteries no where near as strong as a 9v. long story short i don't doubt we'll see it, it's just a matter of someone actually making one.

Orange, green, and white worked. Blue and UV did not.

Edit: Theses are all from my Gun Metal Grey Force Fly.

GMG Force Fly

Those are all in my Gun Metal Grey Force Fly. I had to sand, file, and polish them till they fit. Someone probably makes them in the shape and size so you wouldnt have to do that. All you have to do is desolder them from the eye ribbon and solder in what color you want. He are some pics from my silver Dark IR3. Much brighter.

If I want it and noone makes it...I build it. Its not as easy as it sounds. Once you get so far into the LED there really fragile. Not really worth the effort to sell them. Need to find a company that makes them. Would be alot easier.

HOLY $HIT!! THOSE ARE NICE LAZERS!!! Good job man, and ya you should ask Ken or someone about massing those cause I would like to get one of those (and surely other Angel owners would like that too).

GMG Force Fly

The last 2 pics of my Force Fly are UV leds. They look much different in person. Camera is kinda crapy and the CCD doesnt go that low in the spectrum. They make things glow just like a black light. I have some more parts on the way that are going to expand the colors that I can use. Hopefully yellow for you JD fans.

guys . been doing a little home work. just an fyi. the color of an eye system is very critical. as you shift the light spectrum the closer you get to blue or beyond the more likely you run into errors in detection. between no visable light to red is optimum.

hope u didnt take offense, i didnt read the whole thread so it looked like i was bashing you and i wasnt sorry. its ironic that jr and i were talking last week and this was the topic of our 60 minute conversation. i was doing some research into the darker colors becuse it seemed guys were stating issues with blue and dark purple colors.

see that guys somone else was doing their home work as well. good call! why not expound and tell them why the further you go into the spectrum the less effective they become. thats a good topic for discussion.

The light will Penetrate the ball. Yellow is still close the that end of the spectrum so I'm gonna try, besides that would be sweet on a JD FLY or G7.

nope why is it less effective when you go to the other end of the spectrum closer to blue?

Just a stab in the dark: more energetic photons so they actually pass through the paintball? If not then inquiring minds want to know.

Great Work GMG Force Fly, I really like the green lazers. I plan to send off my custom Annoed LCD,(Green to Black dust) and get it A4 fly converted, and would love to get green lazers in that. Hey? since this topic was started by me, shouldn't I get the "hook up"?
