Whatcha doing playing WOW on a PC? It runs on my iBook, albeit slow.
Configuring the Mac on most campus networks is a relatively simple task, if DHCP is set to on & automatic the computer does all the work for you. Perhaps with the PC you need to join the domain for Internet access (something you can't do with a Mac).
Care to give us some more insight as to how to connect at your campus? Example, I work at Princeton University and for students on a PC there are numerous 'extra' steps they must perform before connecting their machines. Mac users... just plug right in.
What University, what did your school's HD recommend, etc.

there's lots of moving parts associated with completing a network connection. It's almost like you need a bag of chicken bones to shake around as you do it.
Check with the school, they should have a procedure for connecting your machine to the network.

I assume you are running XP.
Click Start> Control Panel > Network Connections, right click on LAN, select properties.
Select TCP/IP and click properties.
Make sure everything is on Automatic under both the General and Alternate.
Click ok blah blah until you are back at network connections. Again right click on LAN and go to properties, over to Advanced, make sure there is no check in that box.
Back in network connections right click on LAN and select repair.
Should be working now, depends on your schools network settings.

turn off your firewall
remove or disable any proxy servers
disable all encryptions
change your ip and dns to obtain auto
you should be able to get on unless theres a certain username and password that everyone has to use to get onto the network

maybe your wireless card isn't up to date with the schools
which method were you using to renew your ip address? best way is to use command prompt
if that doesn't work, try disabling your firewall and run ipconfig /release all then ipconfig /renew if that doesnt work, try doing a repair on the connection

Um hes already said his firewall was off, twice and ipconfig IS done in the command prompt.
From what you are saying it sounds like you are either trying to connect to the wrong domain, or the school is not running DHCP [but this is very unusual].
Talk to a tech, or check someone elses network settings to find the domain name you need to use.
