Im planning on buying a new barrel for my 05 speed very soon, and while im still debating between a stiffi or a custom products 2 piece, i was wondering which bore size i should get since im not planning on buying a kit. Should i get a .689 or a .691, i didnt know which would be the better for a single barrel....

the stock barrell is .689 so you should go with the .691, but kits are cheap on ebay.

the stock barrel isnt .689 because I just got a 2pc CP barrel .689 and I bought some fuel paint and the barrel bore was different( stock the balls just rolled out and with the cp barrel perfect bore match)
buy the CP heres mine ( 16")

my two cents is that if you're going to play in an area where the temp changes significantly over the course of the year, you probably need more than one insert.
Also, if you play at different fields and are using their field paint and each field uses different paint than the others, you're probably going to need more than one insert.
my last two cents: you're making the investment to match your paint to the barrel so why not go ahead and get a kit with all the inserts. It isn't that much more expensive and your peace of mind will be much better (as opposed to barrel breaks that result from mismatch of paint to barrel.)

If you stick to the exact same paint every time and the paint is very consistant size wise then you need to get a barrel that fits that ball. If you shoot whatever they have or whatever is cheapest then I would suggest getting a .692 and shoot everything through it. You will lose a bit of shot consistancy however, you will shoot through breaks easier and never have to worry about gauging paint to barrel match again. The big bore barrels are definately the vote for serious back players.

:dito: on all of that.............i'd get the cp kit (i have 3 of them), but the stiffi is a good one also, just not a fan of the looks or color options :notsure:
