when the trigger is pressed, it activates either a microswitch or an optoswitch. The board then "tells" the solenoid to switch the air to the back of the ram, pushing the hammer/bolt assembly forward, moving the pb into the front part of the breech, then hitting the valve pin and releasing the air that fires the paintball
