View Full Version : Unlocking - isn't it about time?

I've heard all the arguments etc etc, but isn't it about time WDP just allowed the IR3 to be unlocked? They are basically forcing people to sell their IR3's or buy new boards because they can't keep up with other ramping markers. Even if Full-auto was still locked at least we could level the playing field a little. There are so many tourneys these days where ramping is allowed that it makes no sense to keep the marker locked.
I wouldn't mind having to send it to a MT to get unlocked, I just think WDP have been firm on this for a little to long and it's starting to take the P***

I completly agree with you, why do they think that they can continue to have the boards locked, when there isnt a single angel aftermarket board that doesnt go full auto or other tourny legal modes... I mean I have a predator now, and I rarely ever use straight up semi... Maybe NXL Mode, PSP1, 2, 3.... But you just cant get up to speed with the stock ir3 board, luckily hitting 15 occasionally =(

I wonder why no one has figured out how to do it on their own. People usually crack everything. Maybe someone has?

Someone was trying awhile back but was having a hard time either de compiling the code or re-compiling it if I remember the progress properly. My feelings on the unlocking the board thing are this....if your depending on your marker to make you a better paintballer...then maybe you should not play or get better with the marker you do have. You shouldnt have to be able to shot 25+ bps in order to compete against people shooting that fast. If you can aim properly you dont need 25+bps in order to hit someone. And I really fail to see how WDP not unlocking the boards is forcing you to buy new boards or what not. Practice a little and you might be able to hit something without needing to shot 20+bps. Sorry to rant but I cant stand ramping I think its stupid and if not being able to cheat is annoying then suffer buying something that will dont whine aboot it.

I too think ramping is crap, but it's hard to play against those with ramping when you don't have it, it's just not an even playing field :(

I'll tell you the reason why WDP will not unlock the boards. The answer is, they have no internal insurance for the extra modes so they would be liable if someone got hurt using them. And just to let everyone know my expirience with trying to get it unlocked... I sent my board to Russ at Angel Serive Center a while back because he agreed to try and unlock it for me. But when he got it, his tech version of the palm software would not over-ride the software already on my board. So that means that atleast his version of the palm software can't unlock the boards so the other techs probably can't either.

So you're telling me that Spitfire, predator and other board makers, not to mention all the small marker manufacturers, have to have some amazingly expensive insurance just to have ramping? Bull.
They have public liability insurance the same as every other business. If they can have ramping on any other marker they don't have to go buy some mystical IR3 insurance. What if someone gets hurt using semi, can we sue?
Think about it.

WDP isnt going to unlock the IR3 boards for one simple reason....the IR3 is old....there have been 6 other guns released since the IR3 was, its old and WDP has pretty much cut it lose. Besides an A4 Board is rather cheap, it has an LCD screen and it will work with the IR3's current PDS, in fact it upgrades it and im pretty sure that board is unlocked or can be unlocked...and besides why would you want to ramp with an IR3...COPS would slow you down anywho and you wouldnt get any higher then 17 18 bps. Just Fly it or something like that.

They dont have the insurance. If someone gets hurt w/ the WDP software WDP can cover you. Pred and those guys cant cover you if someone gets hurt with their ramping...

So according to you WDP have to have a seperate insurance for every mode of every marker they sell? Do they have to have insurance for all the upgrades too? What planet are you living on?
