View Full Version : G7 Leaking From Ram Area

My G7 has begun leaking after about 90,000 shots. There is air coming from the Ram into the breach chamber. I know this cuz I put a little soapy water in there and can see it bubbling from around the Ram/Hammer. There is no air coming from the back of the ram, only through the breach area.

Here’s what I’ve done so far.
I thought it may have been the small o-ring on the push-rod or o-rings on the ram itself so I removed the ram, replaced all the o-rings, lubed the o-rings, and put a few drops of Love Juice on and in the ram housing. I also checked the solenoid screw to make sure it’s tight but I have not replaced or checked the solenoid gasket. I reassembled the marker, and it continues to leak from the same place. One note, after applying the Love Juice, the leak did become a bit more intermittent between shots.

Here’s my question(s),
Are there any serviceable parts inside the Ram? If so, how do I get the ram apart?
Could a bad solenoid gasket cause this issue?
Could I have “worn out” the ram? If so, is this normal for a G7 with 90K shots on it?
Is this a warrantee-able issue? The marker is about 4 months old.

Not really possible for a bad solenoid to cause the leak coming from there. The ram is designed to be a replacement part rather than rebuildable.

It is probably one of the o-rings on the outside of the ram is leaking. You can either replace the o-ring or try adding some grease. That ought to fix you up nice and easy.

I replaced the outer o-rings with no effect on the problem.

You did add grease to the o-rings before you installed it, correct?

Yes, I applied some Shocker Lube to the o-rings before reinserting the ram.

I hope that the Love Juice I put inside the ram will "swell" the internal o-rings a little and seal it. I will be running drills tonight, I hope it works. If not, I'll have to send it in to Ken.

I applied some love juice inside the ram and after a day or so, the leak stopped. All I can figure is the LJ must have swelled the rubber inside the ram allowing it to seal itself.

At any rate, the problem was fixed by applying some LJ on the RAM..

I guess Its always a good thing to have a well lubed ram.
