Ok, I am trading a couple of my guns for a dark IR3. Just curious what I am going to need for this bad boy. It has a cobra bolt, a4 board, ans2 reg. I'm sure that is it. I am trading two Ions for the IR3 so I am used to being able to really let paint fly. I am reading a lot about the IR3 and everyone seems to be saying that they are slow like 12-14 bps. Now is that with the stock board or will the a4 board help this? Also, does the a4 board have any different firing modes like ramping or anything other than semi?
Incase you haven't noticed this is my first angel and I dont know crap about them. I can tell you pretty much anything you need to know about an Ion or imp or shocker but never tried an angel of any kind. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Stock board on Dark Angels is the Mem6 opto board, Since you will be getting an A4 board, it will help. The Mem6 ROF is capped at 20bps, and you can hit that with a lot of practice. The A4 board will raise the Capped ROF to 30bps. Plus the A4 board will upgrade the Cops, to Sensi. THis is a ball detection system, instead of seeing the ball like a break beam eye system would, Sensi "Feels" the ball by a pressure sensor. I think the aftermarket A4 board is a Semi only, but I could be wrong about that. Just remember that use Compressed Air only on the Angel.

Thanks for the reply. Ya I only have N2 for any gun I use. Thanks for the info on this stuff. Does the gun really need any ups other than what it has already (board, reg, & bolt)? I mean really for me to hit 20bps in semi only would take like an act of GOD or something.
Most the local tournies I play in allow ramp but I only shoot my Ion in semi. Ramping would be like a big league baseball player hitting with an aluminum bat IMO. Dont get me wrong I like pretending that I can actually hit 17 in semi but I cant.
One more thing. While reading through these and other forums I see that a lot of people say that they turn off their sensi cause it slows them down. Does it really affect the bps that much?

The COPS/SENSI PDS can slow the gun down considerably if not setup correctly. I think the main reason people dont like it is because you do need to take some time setting it up properly, and as we all know most people are to lazy to read a manual.
Im using a Mem6 board on my IR3, it has COPS2 and I have mine set so that I can hit 16bps on a consistent basis with an EGG2 w/Zboard and I have had 0 chops while COPS is on. COPS and SENSI do exactly what they are meant to do and they do it very well, however they will limit the bps some, one downfall of their design. However SENSI is much faster then COPS so unless you are a trigger god you wont really have to worry about SENSI slowing you down. COPS basically detects that a ball has fallen on the sensor and then tells the gun to go ahead. There is another setting to compensate for COPS not detecting a ball, the BAS and what that does if COPS hasnt detected a ball it will wait for the set time before firing. Ive set mine to I think 3 miliseconds so that gives my EGG more then enough time to make sure a ball is in the chamber ready to go. SENSI I believe has the same fail safe setting however it is capable of measuring the weight being applied to the sensor and then figures out how many balls are in the tube ready to go and depending on the pressure your hopper is exerting it can be setup to detect how many balls approx can be fired from the hopper in X number of seconds. Only problem with this detection system on any angel aside from the G7 is that the ball stack doesnt stay directly on the sensor due to the nasty rollback issue, thats why I believe they have that BAS setting, cause if COPS worked exactly like a break beam eye system most of the time the gun would never fire cause the ball will more then likley miss the sensor 9 times out of 10.
I havent read up on SENSI in a few years but I believe you set SENSI to a preset hopper setting then you calibrate the SENSI so it can accuratley measure the ball stack pressure and give the best possible fire rate.
As for upgrades on your gun you have a good bolt, id check out the trigger you might want a new one, obviously barrels are always good, and if you have a halo I might recommend either a dyna bolt or jam bolt, angels have a nasty problem with roll back and with a halo you usually get a paint blender

alright guys I got the dark IR3 today!! I tore the gun down a bit and made sure everything was clean and ready to go. It has an A4 board in it so I have the dwell at 12 and tr at 20 not sure of any pressure the gun is running cause there are no guages on the gun or reg. Shooting at 280fps.
Questions I have are:
1. What is tr? Is it like a rate of fire setting?
2. There is no guage port on the gun so would the only way to check pressure be to put a reg on with a guage?
3. Is the sensi located in the feedneck of the gun? I see 3 little tabs in the feedneck a little more than half way down the feedneck?
4. This is supposed to be a dark angel. Does the dark angel have a snake (looks like a cobra) milled on the top of the gun in front of the feedneck?
5. Is cutting the spring a decent way to lighten the trigger pull?
6. Now the a4 board has ramp, some different semi modes, auto, burst modes as well. My question is: when on ramp it is like full auto, you pull the trigger like 2 times and then you can just hold it. Is this supposed to do this?
7. What is the difference between semi modes?
That's it for now. I'm sure I will think of a lot more things in the next few days.
Oh, the guns frickin rips! I like!

I am not A4 expert but im pretty sure that a 20tr means your trigger is going to bounce like mad...that explains your FA while pulling 2 bps. The SENSI is a little black rod in the middle of the chamber...its directly at the bottom there. That thing in the middle of the feed neck is the gated feed....this stops bingo balling. And the different modes in semi not sure...ive only used the IR3 board so I have no idea...the manual should explain. And checking the pressure on the LPR requires a gauge and if you were to check the mini reg output then yes you would have to put a gauge on the end of that as well.

im pretty sure that the diff semi modes are like theres true semi where there no bounce at all (tourny setting) and there caps on diff modes and they have it so u can set up the diff semi how ever u want
