View Full Version : Tadao dreams?

Some (maybe boring to some) background: As you can tell from my sig, I have a G7. Other than not being able to really use the IR feature with my Palm Pilot, I love the G7 to death. Not one complaint whatsoever. The G7 is a killing machine.
I remember reading the posts before about other boards in Angels and how the MT's basically said that the Angel board was the best and all the other boards were sub par. I was on board with it and vowed I'd NEVER change my Angel board with a sub par board! I mean come on - WDP 4 Life!
Then I read here on AOG that the MT's are now working with Tadao on a new board for our Angels. I immediately get suspicious because I'm thinking "Hey, you said the WDP board is the best." Right away, I fly off the handle thinking how dare they and I turn all self-righteous and reject the idea (yeah, I got issues).
Then I started to research into the other boards that are out there and I started to come around. I thought to myself, what the heck do I care about having modes and why am I against it? They would be cool to have to play around with. I always like turbo mode on my Tippmann A-5's E-Grip (shot on pull and release). It was a blast.
Then I read all the heated debate right here on AOG about the MT's endorsing the Tadao.
Heck when I posted my concerns about the whole MT, WDP or Tadao concern and changing the board someone even posted "Hey - EVOLVE OR DIE". I was like whoah, I've said that before.
This here was exactly what I was thinking but didn't have the balls to post:
why not just come out and ask hey you said you wouldnt ever support an aftermarket product why are you now? ill provide the answer here now. if wdp didnt want us or said it was not in the best intrest of the company we wouldnt be doing it. the second response is the consumer has driven this decision, we have recieved a §§§§ load of requests for this type of upgrade so why not give the customers what their asking for with the best quality possiable with our total involvement?
That was my turning point and it sucks to have to admit that you've changed your mind. Almost like I am showing a sign of weakness or even being hypocritical, like I said - I got issues . But I am old enough know to learn from my mistakes and come around on my own time.
But I digress...Back to the "dream"....
So I was offered something last night and the offer makes me think I was dreaming. It kinda went like this. I am at my computer and started up AIM.
BOOM! I get an IM from Ken Crane. And here is where the dream starts. He offers me an MT Tadao Board for the weekend to try out on my G7! He tells me to show up at his shop this Friday night for the goods and to have fun with it for the weekend!
Actually, not a dream but a very true story...

Will we get a review and some info on all the extras that are on the board?

I can promise you that I will give as much information as Ken will allow. Since it is not officially released just yet, I do not want to ruin the surprise that I am sure the MT's and Tadao may have in store.
I don't even know what to expect. The suspense is killing me.
Darn Ken know how to push my buttons lol.

dam...lucky
i really dont know what to think of the mts indorcment of tadao. it is kind of throwing me off as well...tho i will prolly end up getting the board because i feel that the lcd isnt nessary and i belive that i would perfer the feel of a microswitch over the trigger that my g currently has
at first it did seem kind of hypocrytical on the part of the mts to offer this board but i c now that its a diffrent option for people just like the people with the dm4s and the timmys have

Good point. But as I see it, anyone would be insane to pass up the opportunity to try anything for free.

i c very littler difference with any of the a/m boards. if you look at the descrips, they do the samething jusy fancier wording on some and the used car salesman approach. i will buy from the mts since they seem to be honest and not push bull. i will give an example for one of the companies, lee has left us but leanna has replaced her. same person though just change in the name. i would not want to do bus with someone like that. dont get me started on the only true semi crap.

I made the trip to Ken’s last night to get the MT Angel Force Tadao Board installed in my G7. I still cannot believe that I have it in there.
Ken actually handed me the board and said “No, you install it.” I got to sit down at the infamous Performance work bench (kinda smelled like thog94 had been there, lol) and swapped out my G7’s stock board with the MT Angel Force Tadao Board.
Needless to say, it is a very easy installation. I just had to remove the screws holding the stock board and remove the wiring for the battery, solenoid and laser eyes. Piece of cake.
The board certainly feels different than the opto-switch firing mechanism that is stock with the Speed 05 and G7 because you are actually pressing against a micro-switch instead. It feels just like a mouse click and to me it feels springier than stock because of the micro switch. The players that miss that micro switch feel are really going to be in heaven with this board.
After reviewing the Angel Force Tadao instructions, Ken shot off a loader full and then handed it over to me. I was thinking “Ken can freaking rip at the trigger!” It was set for semi, zero bounce and a host of other settings/features that the board has. The board really does allow you to fine tune more than the stock board. It takes a little getting used to not having an LCD screen but after a few minutes of using the new board's LED display and all the colors, it becomes second nature.
OMFG! This board is fast. Crazy fast.
IMHO - Tourney players are going to really love the features and settings that the board allows. And yes, non-tourney players are going to really like the settings that the board has.
I can’t mention the modes and settings that the board has. The MT’s will unveil that when the time is right. I am sworn to secrecy and I am keeping it that way. Heck, I want to live!
I got to play with the board today and I am using it again tomorrow. I am truly one luck bastard.

...nice little teaser there Trigga! But, glad to see something on the potential capabilites of the new board being reported...
...I'd expect the 'value' of the earlier generation Angels to go up once again as these boards make it onto the market. Many of the flied A4's will certainly increase as well with the new programmability the board will offer. I base this off my Euro Fly'ed A4 from BoB, it's performance certainly better than I expected, I can only imagine what the TADAO board will do for it, as well as my ForceFly...
...I forsee spending <$200 for a TADAO board that will interchange between the two markers, breathing 'new life' and a myriad of features into the two for rec and tourney use....much less than buying another new platform (marker), not to mention that I will always have a 'spare' board handy for that time when 'Murphy' decides to visit.
I think this is a 'business coup' for the MT's/Tadao/WDP to keep the WDP presence up there...kudo's!

...just noticed your sig, your G is 'evolved'....
...I'd like to see tests that have been conducted on markers that are basically 'bone stock'....I presume the 'baseline' configuration of the different WDP models is how the board is being developed...

I used the board with essentially a stock G7. I wanted to see what the average G7 user was going to see.
Used it again today for 4 hours, and man, I am still impressed. I think you hit it right on the head - This will breath new live into the Angel line.

Call me what you want. I will say this is a grasp at straws to put some life back into the angel market. Moreover a attempt to put some cash in your pocket. Hype it enough, give some boards out, and watch the cash roll in, until something new comes out. Oh and when new software comes out how will you get it on the board? Will it have to be flashed? Will there be a new chip to replace? Will this be free?

yes yes and yes where is the issue here? flat out what i see here is just another paintball hater. producing new products is what forwards a company or product. were you somone that wanted to see the angel die? if so you are sorely mistaken. becuse what is shortly coming down the pike will knock the socks out of the other companys. take that one to the bank.
Trig- Props, and thanks for the info.
Ken- Same to you man props, I am looking forward to this.
Ragin Cajin- Quit being difficult, I have been not just asking but screaming for a better board for months now and to qualify this new board as just some sort of scam the MTs cooked up to make money completely invalidates the those of us who have been asking, begging and screaming for a better board. If you have a complaint take it to Angel who made a completely proprietary board, with limited functionality and ZERO programming features, because without their backwards thinking there would be no need for after market boards.

Im not being a jerk Im just stating my opinion. If you dont want to read it then dont. Ken is a businessman and should answer any questions in a mannerly way. Instead he wants to call me names and assume he knows who I am. What about the new software upgrades? You never answered my question? Yeah, and how about some capitalization, Ken. That would be nice.

I still don't understand who are "giving some boards out". All I know is that I'm taking it out for a test drive and then returning it this week. Like Ken said, I asked if I could post on AOG that I was going to be borrowing it and he said yes.
I have tested parts before where the supplier has told me not to report publicly on whay I thought about the product but to just report back to them. You know why? Because the other companies were not sure of the results or because the part was not completely finished and the company might have forseen that the part needed change or improvement to the original design.
This is not the case with the Angel Force Tadao Board because Ken didn't flinch when I asked if I could talk about. In fact, he told me to "be honest with what you think about it." That tells me that they in fact do have confidence that people that are looking for a board with these features, will be impressed, hands down. I can't say it any better than that. Based one what I have seen, I have mine pre-ordered.
Does it sound like I've been bought-out? I can clearly see why anyone would think that. Tell you what, just wait for all the people that purchase the board when it is being sold. That is when a huge flow of positive feebdack will take place.
Then I can say "I told ya so!" lol

Im not being a jerk Im just stating my opinion. This thread is about only my impressions on performance of the board itself and not about opinions on the MT/Tadao business venture.
Only the people that have used the board can have an opinion on the board  .
Its too late Trigga, he has so much posture invested in his attitudes and opinion, he can’t back down now without eating a little humble pie, and this makes any real discussions impossible.

i will not release anymore info about our board features as some of them have already be compromised becuse of my need to release information prior to when it should be. believe me it was a lesson learned. i answered your question about the fact it WILL advance the angel world i answered yes that it will make us money and yes to being able to flash software when the need arises. maybe the others dont see you stating you are intrested in a aftermarket board in other places. and i never called you a name i just stated that you were a hater in this thread and you have the right to express your self any way you see fit. funny thing about your comment i just noticed, another buisnessman you are dealing with wondered who you were after some of your posts on pbn but i never did.

My question still hasnt been answered. Will software upgrades be FREE? As for me dealing with anyone on PBN, I have no idea what you are talking about. Yes I posted some comments and questions about the Predator board but other than that its all questions. Im not "dealing" with anyone. Im not sure why anyone would wonder who I am because I asked questions. Im a player. Nothing more, nothing less. I work for my money, I pay my way to tourneys, I buy my own equipment. Why does anyone have to bash me for wanting to know any and every aspect about a product I may purchase, including the people I would have to deal with to purchase it. Its all business in the end. You make and sell your board, I will derive my own opinions about it. Simple.
Yes, software upgrades will be done at no charge other than shipping fees which can be reduced dramatically by mailing in just the board.

i really am having a hard time to see the bad side of the MT tadao board. You use stock angel harnesses so no modification if required. The MTs are asking the public what they want so you know the board will be designed for the player. How many companies do that? It keeps the intelifeed port so all you with moded Halo can still use them. It fixes one of the biggest complaints which was the opto trigger. I know personally this is a big sell for me. It makes the gun super easy to program. Most of the top teams are shooting Tadao products, they must know something :) this arrangement that the MTs and Tadao have done will benifit everyone so i dont see why people are complaining.

09-03-2005, 09:25 PM
I can't see a downside to this, it's a win win situation. WDP makes the Opto and the MT's with Tadao are coming out with a micro. I'm sure that there were guidelines that the MT's had to follow in accordance with WDP since they do work for them. I don't think that they'd do anything against their wishes. How many people on here were bitching about the opto switch? Now you have a different option that's approved by the MT's. It seems to have all of the stock board options so why not? If you don't like it don't buy it, if you do then get one, it's as simple as that

Hey Ken and Trigga, thanks for the info on the Tadao!! I was a sceptic of it also at first, but if you say it's golden in your eye's, than it's a definate hit for me!!
Anyway, I have just one question, who do make the pre-payment for the board to, if it's true? Will all the MT's have them? Also, I KNOW THIS IS A STUPID QUESTION, will the MT trigger work with the micro switch?

The trigger will cost a couple extra bucks after all Ken is a bussiness person right. Just kidding being someone that Ken has helped (at a field) for the hugh fee of zero dollars. Ken is not only a business person. I think he is truely one of those love of the game people. He did help others that did not even have angels. So if it takes buying some well thought out products from a guy like this, to keep a guy like this at the field. (or fixing HVAC or something) Then I am in for sure. Caps and all.
