can it work at 500 psi or is that to low for a unmodded ir3

It will work just fine. However I'm not sure about the valves recharge rate. I believe you will have to add a couple of shims to the LPR.

you wont be able to fire at a high rate with a 500 psi input, you will get half cycles all the time your gun will be starving for air and it wont look pretty. Im assuming your regulator is preset at 500psi? The only way that might work is to gut your mini reg but unless your using an Angel AIR or Max Flo its not recommended to do that anyway. I always ran my tank input at 700psi when I was running my marker at the settings the manual states it should run at.

As much as I hear everyone stating the same thing over and over, I have yet to actually see an IR3 be starved that much. No half cycles just a slightly higher +/- variation in FPS. I had a PMI LP tank on my IR3 when I first got it and I never experienced any problems. I hear the same for the G7's yet I have one and used an HP output tank with no problems. Granted you will have to open up the velocity screw on an IR3's reg to accomodate the low flow and vice versa for the G7 using high flow. There may be a science behind it or not but in any case always use the recommend tank output pressure. It'll prevent problems in the future.

P.S. also note that I'm just a player with an opinion and while I might always be right lol I'm not an expert and my advice should never be taken seriously, so you're better off asking an MT.

One other thing I forgot to mention your fps will bounce all over the place if you cant get a regulator that will work better at 500psi input...look at getting a sidewinder. The recommended input is 800psi to the mini reg it then drops it down to 500 before being split between the LPR and the Valve Chamber. Just an FYI when I say at high rates I mean like 13 or 14 bps...if you keep it at 12bps usually its fine
