So i bought one of the shockteck metal drive cones,

now when trying to install it using the stock screw to keep the drive cone fastened, it would be too tight and wouldnt let the drive cone spin freely.

was i supposed to get some additional screws and/or washers wit this product or am i just doing something wrong here?

It comes with the cone only,no screws or washers, mine worked fine when installing it,but I found the edges a lil sharp and didnt file it smooth.I would recommend that,if you get you fit issue right.I switched to one made out of delrin and its much better no cut balls from the edges.Since Im give out more info then you requested,I have One more thing, the metal pin is so strong the lil plastic thingy that the spring thing sits in under the cone it breaks now and not the cone, thats the next thing someone needs to make out of a better material.Good luck on the fit.

just loosen the srew a touch till it spins freely. it should not come out. if it feels like it wont stay in take it out and put a little thread tape on it should hold it in nice and snug.

also i like to put just a very thin layer of slick honey on the bottom of my metal cone so it doesnt have any issue with sticking to the plastic.

the screw has to be practically loose for the cone to spin freely in my case, if i leave it like that it will shake loose in a matter of minutes.

What you probably did was pinch the spring under the drive cone... when setting the spring tension you need to lift the cone just enough to get it over the tab. I know it's an older post, but I'v e done this a few times.

nope, i took apart my halo the other day to clean in and i noticed what my problem is with this installation.

the stock plactic drive cones have a round crease around the screw hole that sits snug with some raised edges where the cone attaches (not really sure what all the parts are called).

and then i looked at the metal one and saw that it didnt have this crease, so it's being raised by the edges on the unit itself. now i dont know if the metal cone is supposed to have these and i just got a defective unit.... would anybody be able to confirm this?

i'm gonna upload a picture of what i mean in a couple of minutes

ok here's the picture of what i mean,

first picture shows the underside of the cone, and the second one shows where the grooves are supposed to be in comparison with the plastic cone

i was just reading up at 68caliber.com and when reading the review on the delrin drive cone i just saw exactly my problem

Odyssey has recently made a quiet redesign to the stock spring cup by making it taller. This is to combat the issue of the spring riding over the tab that keeps it in place and rendering the loader useless or worse, causing it to break paint in the loader and juice up the player’s marker. The Critical cone has a groove milled into the underside to accommodate the new design of the stock spring cup, in the event the user doesn’t want to use the delrin part.

aahhhh, that just sucks! looks like i'm going to have to find a way to cut the grooves into my metal drive cone, either that or sell it

I would sell it and get a delrin cone....I got a shocktech @ cup last year....used it for a bit then it killed my motor due to weight....so now I got me a delrin
