i am fairly new to the wdp/high end marker world an i need help .i was thinking about buying an 04 speed from my friend, but when i talked to the guy at my local paintball place he said "DO NOT buy an angel", because if they break it will cost alot of time and money for them to get fixed. he suggested something like a timmy instead of an angel. please someone give me some good advice

Any of those "high-end" markers are going to be expensive IF they break. What does he classify "breaking".
I can honestly say that my Angels have yet to "break". Sure I have upgraded some few items, but show me a marker that doesn't have some upgrades.
I find that my Angels have been very, very reliable. I have had Shockers, and Cockers. This gun is far easier to "diagnose" a problem and then fix it!!!
You'll find that for some unknown reason, some people are against Angels.
IMO, have had heard tooooo many war stories about Timmies and DMs and Shockers and etc..... going down. Rarely have I heard of an Angel going down other than minor "tweaking"!!
I say, get it!!

Breaking an angel is pretty hard, and if u do break sumtin either someone on here will tell u how to fix it or if u have to buy replacement parts it's usually fairly cheap. Besides of course the solinoid and the board, any other replacement parts wouldnt be that expensive. Plus with angel u have THE best support out of any other gun. You have a forum full of members that will help you with any problem you have (including me), not to mention the Master Techs that browse the forums. And if u can't fix it on ur own, you can send it to a Master Tech (some of the koolest guys around) and they will fix it right up. Definately worth it. 04 Speed would be a good choice, you can get use to the angel without spending 1000+ and the upgradability is awesome. Great thing about WDP/Master Techs is they don't leave the old guns behind, new stuff is always commin out. So once u get use to the gun u can do stuff such as the fly conversion to make it own even more. As far as i'm conserned i'm WDP for life and as much as i have liked some other types of guns, nothing comes close to how m uch i love my fly'd 04 speed. In the end the choice is your's and wut u should do is try a few guns out and just get wut u like the most, cause when ur on the field playing it truly doesn't matter wut me or wut some shop guy said, all that matters is that ur comfortable wit the gun ur reppin...

i can comment on this toppic from first hand expirence. i purchaced a ground zero timmy after owning an impulse and a tippmann. i played with the gun all of onece before it broke...i took it to my shop where it broke again. fried board and a blown solenoid. at this time the owner of the shop offered to trade me a 2k1 angel for the broken timmy. i took the trade and never had a problem with the angel
thats just one example of this happening. many people will say that angels are much more reliable than many other guns...espacially the new versions of the guns such as the 04 speed.

the only reason that im even considering the option of not getting the speed is because its used and i havent had a chance to test it out yet. supposedly it has all new internals and works great... but we'll see

Go for the Speed. Ive had mine almost a year, only one problem wich was my fault for setting the dwell too low. They are great.

do a sensi test, make sure it shoots good, if u can, play a game with it to make sure it's the kinda feel ur lookin for...
Ive seen many angels in my days, excellent, good, bad, or horendous conditions. All of them work. as presto said breaking an angel is very hard. ive "sold" the idea of buying an angel to more people than i can remember and every time i tell them that when you buy an angel, your not only buying a quality, fast as hell, indestructable, product... your also buying an amazing service that includes the sponsors, warranties, this website, the MTs, etc. Good Luck and welcome to AOG.

both my angels havent broke yet and ive had them for a while.my friends alias on the other hand was horrible.it kept leaking out of the lpr and he couldnt get that thing down below 300fps and he was using a low pressure tank. Now he also has his ripper2 that he got in a trade, and when he played with it he fried the board and the eyes were broken. he replaced them and the gun works but idk if it those problems just happened or if the guy ripped him off, but that was a horrible day for him when he played with it.

so basically an angel would be the most logical decision in any case then right?

yes, as long as u like how the gun feels on the field, then angel is the best choice
