But i hav to say im sick of it...its all i ever see anymore FULLY UPPED ION f/s/t $$550!!!!!! or Upped Ion and $100 f/t A4....and some retards actually tried to http://www.angel-owners.com/showthread.php?t=43347 DESPERATELY TOO...are people straight up retarded these days or wat????.....Im not puttin the ion down b/c of its price. im puttin the ion down b/c its not worth more than its regular sale value no matter wat and it isnt worth any angel at that too....even tho its a gun that runs "as good as top of the line" it still isnt $ for $ worth higher end guns, and the owners should add appropriately. Amen

Have you shot an upped Ion? There actually pretty decent guns. I totally agree with you though, their resale is WAY overinflated and i get really tired of seeing people ask like $500 for an ion with 200 in ups when it should be selling for like half that much if it was any other gun. Noobs come in and pay that much for them though not understanding that used guns decrease in value so that keeps the price up. If you want to see something really sad go to www.ionowners.com and watch them defend their rediculous prices...

I can not see how WDP can improve on the G7. I have gotten the opportunity to trade markers (Shocker's, Ego's, NME's Timmy's, Proto's, Upped ION's and DM4&5's) with many friends to play a scrim with and I am sooo sold on the quality and finish of the G7. Matter of fact I have a few friends that are saving to convert to the Church of WDP as they have seen the light. What could be enhanced upon? Maybe a new board with more modes, but that is more of an upgrade than a complete revamp of the G7 platform.

well then they should stick with it n not ask for soem rediculous deal...i worked hard to get my angel and i take it as an insult when someone offers something liek that no matter how good the gun is it doesnt change the value...especially 200....look at angels. our angels dont go for more then a penny now a days compared to wat we paid for them no matter how manys ups we got on them....anywho thnx for those who feel the same pain i do :bouncer:

Ive seen a couple upped Ions at my local field. Kids wanting 500 or 600 bucks for it. Ive even told them that no matter how much stuff they have put on them they are still only selling a USED 300 dollar gun. They just dont seem to get the idea that they are never going to get the amount of money that they have put into it.

even if an upped ion shoots great, it still doesnt really compare with the high end markers even tho thats what the ion was designed to be :P

I can not see how WDP can improve on the G7.
And that is why you will never be employed in an R&D department. In 6 months we will have the next generation Angel that will be lighter, faster and easier to maintain. Remember, the G7 gained weight over the fly so that will be the next focus area. Right now like new flies are dipping down to $700. Check out the like new JD fly that sold for $725 last week here. The G7 will be improved on & will be WDP's "has been" marker that will sell dirt cheap in 6 months when the next generation comes out. It is all part of the big plan to move your money from your pocket to theirs.

Weight loss does not change performance though.

but you have to think that everyone loves the performance of an angel. the g7 didnt have a tremendous difference in performance compared to an a4 fly but the size of it was a noticeable difference but the g7 put on some weight. if you can keep the small size and shrink the weight down even smaller than an a4 fly in a g7 body, people would still be lining up to put down $1300-1500 for it
also to release 2 markers every year, you know there's always going to be some small modification that everyones going to want. plus you cant forget about all of the marker tarts out there who want the latest gun every few months

AKA planned obsolesce
Just remember paintball guns are not investments. I stopped selling paintball guns awhile ago because they are worth more to me than their resale value. You have to ask yourself if it is really worth getting screwed by the next 2k5er to get a few chips for the next big ticket. But then again, it is good times if you are the buyer.

i to am gettin tired or these "upped ions" here is what cooks my noodle...
i'm not speaking for everyone but some of these kids you know are prolly the kids who will never have enough to own a real high end gun... so they would be in a class of tippy/spyder owners...but now that sp has lowered the standards in a matter of speaking by making a cheap high end gun...some of these kids are now thinking they can afford a "high end" gun and think they can "roll with the big dogs now"... i mean dont get me wrong... the ion is a decent gun... but in no way is it in the same league as an angel.

ya i checked out that ion owners site. funny stuff. my dad bought me an ion for my report card. he said u got 300 to spend and of coarse the 1st, best investment i thought of was the ion. since they r selling for over their price now adays...but of coarse i dont care for ions and i traded it beofr ti wa seven deliered to my house. traded an ion and a black magic for a blue CnC ir3 with an ultralite, 68/45, and parts. pretty good deal if u ask me...

the ion is somewhat like the stock market. it's relatively new to the market. no one really knows if it's going to make it in the long haul or not.
If my analogy holds, I'm like a stock broker and I'm not enamored with the ION. I think it's cheaply built and is not going to hold up in the long run. If I'm wrong, I've made a $2000 mistake because I have two of them...
If I'm wrong, I've made a $2000 mistake because I have two of them...???Aren't they about $300 a piece? Not blastin ya, I just don't understand.

Smart Parts has done exactly what they set out to do. Spend the least amout od R&D and money trying to make a entry level marker. The Ion is not intended to compete with Angels or other high end markers. So they made a CHEAP shocker. That is all it is. A plastic shocker. The reason these kids try do get more than it is worth is because their parents bought it for them. So mon and dad wants every penny back that they spent. I was going to get my son one. Glad I didn't my local shop has 2-3 being worked on every week. For some reason they are blowing off hoses. I'm new to the sport, and plan on getting a high end gun soon. I have an Evil Pimp. It hasn't given me any trouble at all. It's resale price has dropped half in 1 year. New Pimps go for 600-700. People can't give them away for 400-450. However they are decent guns.

i dont think its as much of parents wanting as much back as they can get. but i think its more of kids who could never get a high end gun, now can. and since they dont have that much experience with high end guns they sorta thinkg they are in the same league as angels and dm4's and such when they are really not close...

For some reason they are blowing off hoses.
The reason those Ions are blowing of hoses is because all those kids don't know how to take care of their Ion's. They think you can lube it just like the Tippy/Spider they owned by dropping some oil in the ASA. Ion's like Shockers require DOW33. :)
But back on topic I'm not a big fan of the Ion's either. They are nice markers for the money but all in all there is nothing hi end about them. Take a look at the solenoid/board. It's a joke if you ask me.
