I just wanted to know if you guys are happy with the whole Palm IR software. Do you think the extra convenience was worth the purchase of a PDA? I'm considering buying a PDA to work with my IR3.

Maxx......the question to ask yourself is how much is your time, and your teammates time worth?

Consider this......you're at a tournament, it's cold out, and you don't think about turning up the dwell before the first game. You guys go out, and you're blowing up paint, so you remember that turning up the dwell will help that. So you go back to your car/table/staging area......now here's where you've got 2 choices: you can either a) pull out the allen wrenches, remove all 3 screws, and adjust the dwell manually from the inside, or you can b) turn on your palm, change it in a matter of seconds, and beam it to your marker......how much time did you save for you and all your teammates? Consider this one as well.....you show up at the event and they tell you the game times, well they're different than what you've got your timer set for on your marker. So again you whip out your Palm make a few minor adjustments in a matter of seconds, and then beam it to everyones markers. I know I've gone past the right time on more than one occasion and it's aweful slow coming back around on the marker itself.

You're at home, tinkering with your marker (COPS settings, including BAS and SENS, ROF, etc) how much time do you spend pushing and holding those little buttons on the back of the grip frame in?

You can get a cheap Palm for about $100-130. I bought the M105 with the intentions that this is why I bought it. My g/f uses it for other stuff, but it's got the Angel software on it, and it goes to events with me. I spent like right at $100 or so for it, and it's been working perfectly. I think it was worth the small investment just because of how easy it is to do things now.

Emmit, you set up a pretty good scenario to prove your point.

I think I'll go for it. Thanks

np, I think you'll be glad you did. Just remember to get one that's compatible...it has to have the Palm OS, and the Handspring version doesn't work. Try to find either an M105 or something in that line. I hear the M130's are priced relatively low too.

Maxx....I feel so bad now.....I went through this process of convincing you this was a good idea, and how easy it was etc....went to a tournament that involved a 3 hour drive and half way there realized I left my Palm sitting next to the computer at home. I got lucky that I had turned up my dwell a couple of weeks ago because of the cold weather and I didn't have to make any changes to it Sunday. Lesson learned: Palm goes in the gear bag, and when g/f needs it she can get it out and put it back!!!!! LOL

I heard from a friend at school that works at a paintball store and he said he knows where you can get cables fro your computer/laptop and it has an IR port. I dont know if you can somehow make it work on a laptop/pc but ypu can always use that. Ill ask him tomorrow where you can get one I'll let you know. Or you can pay me the money and Ill ship it out to you. :)

Good scenario.... funny story.....

I love the software, myself, even though only having done minor fiddling.

this was the greatest thing when I played last weekend. I had change my dwell due to the rather low temp and it was a snap. took just a few second instead of a few minutes.

I've been using it to change game timers alot lately.....it's alot easier to change the timers on the palm, and zap it over than to have to change all 4 timers on the gun....Playing both 5 and 7 I want different timers for each, using the palm makes it a sinch
