i sound dumb, but why NPPL illegal?
On Friday, Chop Shop and 665 Almost Evil, were disqualified from the event for using illegal markers. The illegal Chop Shop gun was an Angel Fly. The 665 gun that was pulled was an Ironmen Matrix with a Tadao board. According 665, the NPPL scrutineer has declared Tadao boards illegal in the NPPL. However, we will follow-up with the league to confirm this rumor.
Mike from 665 said he was just as upset about getting disqualified as he was about the rules not being enforced equally across the board.
"The NPPL must make the robot accessible for teams to see if the guns are illegal. If not, they can't just disqualify a whole team because of one guy. They also need to make sure the rules are enforced equally across the board."
A long those lines, a less diplomatic player from 665 said, "I think it's ***king bull§§§§ that pros can ***king talk their way out of it."
As unfortunate as it is for these two teams, it's good to see the NPPL is finally taking illegal modes seriously.
Before Friday's end Denver was bombarded with a major down pour. Some fields paused briefly but for the most part the games continued on or ahead of schedule.
Friday also proved that the "astrophalt" was not as rough to play in as some people thought. According to the NPPL, one player did dislocate his shoulder, but he had already dislocated it on 5 previous occasions, making him more susceptible to re-injuring himself. The turf did prove easy to slide on, and the smart teams used this to their advantage. Bob Long has taken the field with his team the Ironmen and was seen pulling off a 20 foot long slide on one occasion as his team thundered on to victory.
Of course, for every daring rock-star slide pulled off by one team there was at least one or two ugly ones when the rain started to come down. Players were sliding out of their bunkers on the breakout and falling over during bunker moves.

The Tadao board is not NPPL illegal, that's a press release from 2004. I don't know why this member continues to post these things in the various forums. I've been actively testing the '05 Speed Tadao board and it's been fantastic!
