I'm in the process of getting a g7. This is a step up from the co2 strap a bottle on and go guns i am used to. I need some info on air. I am going to used a screw on tank. I have a friend who can lend me a preset 800psi until i get my self sorted out. I have read that the g7 needs no more than 400 into the gun. Is this from the bottle's regulator (1st stage) or after it has gone through the gun's mini regulator (2nd stage). So is the 800psi output of his bottle too high and will I need a 400psi regulated bottle. I am a newbie and any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

you need a lp tank to run on the g7.
1st stage should be 450psi or so
2nd stage (from mini-reg) 195-215psi

Actually that is not totally correct.

Here is a copy of manual compliments of Trigga Nometry-
http://home.comcast.net/~fbgrace/ANGElg7manual.pdf

Page 4 top right hand side says:

-Do not exceed 850 psi input to the ANGEL

(then it goes on to say)

The Angel is designed to operate on air/nitrogen gas. This needs to be supplied to the ANGEL at an ideal regulated pressure of 400 psi using a suitable first stage regulator, such as the ANGEL AIR.

The key word here is ”ideal”, and the G7 will function with a 800psi HPA tank, it just makes the regulator on the G7 work a little harder.

tru, tru, tru you are ito....BUT ideal is ideal..ha ha...that's what's best

So I will amend my original statement, you SHOULD use a lp tank to run on the g7

After dropping close to $1400-1500 on a G7, I will and have set up my G7's the "ideal" way. I am not going to risk any damage with such HP tank. In the scheme of things, if you are going to drop this amount of loot on a G7, set it up the right way.

I agree, but I have also tried both and while both work just fine I also prefer the LP.

It should also be noted that many tanks can be modified to form HP to LP.

Do i need an asa or does the macroline just hook up straight to it?

also how do i mount it to the gun? i plan on getting a dropforward so how does it connect to the gun??

do i need a unimount?

Yes you need an ASA unless you get the Angel Air, then you can just mount it on the grip.

There are 2 holes in the bottom of the grip to mount a the Angel air, Rail, ASA, or a Drop.

If you go with a drop you can get a direct mount ASA now, and add the drop later, or get an Rail mount ASA and a Rail to make it work then add the drop later... either way will work.

Here is review I did on another forumm:

As long as I have been around here there has been talk of on/offs and ASA and which one is better. The consensus seems to have been the Check It Uni-Mount (http://www.hotshotpaintball.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CIT-UNI-MOUNT-DUST-BLUE&Category_Code=AIRSYSTEMS-RAIL&Product_Count=10) was a good one and that is what I thought until I found this Custom Products 2k5 On/Off ASA (http://store.customproducts.us/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=15&categoryID=3)

http://www.texasjin.net/images/CP-ASA.jpg

This CP ASA is the absolute finest ASA I have tried yet, and it is head and shoulders above the Check It Uni-Mount. There is ZERO…NONE…ZIP…NO resistance while turning it on and off. While the valve is under pressure and you wish to turn it of, you can just spin the valve with one finger and it will turn off then bleed the pressure out a hole in the bottom. Turning it back on is just as easy. With the Check-It valve there was quite a bit if resistance and sometimes I felt the thread would strip there was so much.

The CP ASA uses a rail system or you can get a direct mount (http://store.customproducts.us/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=17&categoryID=3).

If you are looking for a great ASA this is one of the best I have seen yet and I bought one for each of my markers.

Here is a pic of how the CP mounts, the top silver one is my old one and the bottom black on is new. It’s a great view of how the rail works.

is the spot where the two circles place where it mounts or am i just a dumba$$??? so i can just mount that to the drop forward and then i dont need the asa or unimounts or ne thing like that??? just run the macro to the hole and thats it???

You will need an ASA, its the part that goes between the microline and the HPA bottle. Take a look at that first pic up there ane you will see.

The two holes on the drop will mount the two holes on the bottom of the gun grip.

Then you need to put an ASA on the end of the drop.

Some drops come with BOTH a rail system AND the two holes for mounting the ASA. The pick above shows a rail system.

Here look at this pic:
The Angel has an ASA, and a Rail.
The Tippmann has an ASA and a Drop.

If you still dont understand post links to the ASA and Drop you like and I will look at them and tell you all the parts you need to make them work together.

Ok all you need is
http://secure.fixmyangel.com/catalog-product280 cp flame drop
http://img169.echo.cx/my.php?image=angelair5fo.png angel air with reg

I believe the angel air has a built in ASA so to speak the regulator has a place to screw in a fitting for the micro line, but I could not find a manual so you may need to ask someone here that has one... Also note this tanks has mixed reviews PB review: http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/334/

Like I said I don’t own one, and the few I have seen at the field were too heavy for my tastes, I figured why not save a few hundred and get a Crossfire. In fact I bought 3 used Crossfire tanks 92/4500, 88/4500, 68/4500 for the same price as one Angel Air. Just something to think about, if you do decide against the Angel Air then this is all you need (plus a tank):

http://secure.fixmyangel.com/catalog-product280 cp flame drop

im buying it used for 250 the guy said he only had filled it a couple of times. and it was still in perfect condition but he is getting out of pb bc of money issues so i figure getting a like brand new tank for like half the money

i have heard they are heavy though so if i dont like it i will just save up my mowin money for like a week then buy a crossfire

Oh yeah some guys dont like drops either. I put one on my Tippmann because the 92/4500 I have on it is HUGE.

Does anyone know if the Angel Air has a on/off?

No it does not however you can put an on/off on the output side to shutoff pressure that way, at least into your marker.

Try it to hold one with and without a drop. Decide for yourself. Currently drops aren't "in". 5 years ago these same kids that say no "no drop" would love the drop because they were "in". Besides.....how much stock can you put in the advice of someone who actually says "shizzle".

Angels arrived and the concensus seems to be go for a lp tank. A Hp will work but i'm not taking the risk. The manual says dont have the input pressure from the 1st stage higher than 850. So if the 1st stage reg wasn't that accurate and it was higher than 850 and caused parts to fail this may void the warranty. Thanks for all the advice above. Not been on the net for a while (holiday etc). cheers!

Yes waiting for my crossfire 68ci 4500 psi with 450 lp regulator on it. should be dandy! Gonna be using an egg with it. What hopper setting should I use. It's just the standard egg not with a Z board in it. Think it runs at about 19 balls. Is it classed as Standard, Medium, Fast or super fast. I'm guessing its not super fast! :notsure:

my G7 doesn't have the option, it has the numbers 1-16...10 is what I have read is recommended for my reloader B, so an egg without a z board should be the same

I can put in another vote for the MacDev Conquest. It looks tight and performs really well. I also like the way it sits under the marker, it keeps everything really close to my mask, especially with my 45/45 on . I liked it so much that I picked up a pair, one 45 and one 68.

:embarasse Sorry for confusion over hopper settings. Didn't have gun at hand and had a quick look at a pdf manual. It says std med fast and sfast as hopper types on page 9. But yes it does say 1-16 on page 7. Will use setting 10 Thanks.
Just had a quick search for MacDev Conquest it was $240 (£135) Just for the reg. The cross fire costs about £170 For the full bottle.
Am I just being a cheapskate :embarasse
