View Full Version : Serious Problem Here... Left End Cap!!
I bought a 5peed on Ebay for a decent price but when I got it the left end cap was stripped where the hex key goes into it. How in the heck am I gonna get this thing off? If I can get it off then I gonna put a volumizer on it. Any suggestions other than telling me not to buy on ebay anymore?

An EZout will take that out providing it is not too damaged. If that does not work send it to one of the MT's for that to be removed and you might as well get them to give you a tuneup while it's there. Face it if that's messed up who knows what other treasures the seller has left you. Speaking of leaving, if that's not how the item was advertised leave negative feedback for the seller. Granted he'll probably leave negative feedback too because some sellers pretty much say eff me, no eff you too. It's sad that people don't own up to what they've done but that's the way it is.

Guys, it happens. Live and learn. Let's fix the problem rather than making the dude fell as good as a hen turd on a pump handle.
wipes away the tears... Ok, I'm going to give the EZOut tool a try. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the input.

Another option, and this might be a big if, would be to use a dremmel with a small sanding disk, cut a hole in the middle of the end cap and make it a giant screw that can be removed with a standard screw driver. I don't have a dremmel in front of me to compare, but it might work if all else fails. A MT tune up would be an excellent idea.

...you can also try using a "torx" tipped tool that is slightly larger than the original hole.
...rather than 'flats' like a regualr hex key, the torx looks like an * ...

Guess what guys and gals?! I got it off with the EZout. I was sweatin' and scared that I might tear the dang thing up but it took all of 2 minutes. Got the volumizer on and am very happy. I will send the marker off to the MT very soon. Already sent negative feedback and an email to the seller. Thanks a bunch for all your help... especially El Pirata.

Though it's not part of the angel tool kit, a dremel tool should be in your shop. It's got a 1000 uses.

Yeah, but I am still waiting for my dremel to hammer.
