The paintball store by me only fills up to 4000 psi, this is because they have no booster pumps, so I figured out a way to get 4500 psi out of them, first get your 4000 psi fill, let it cool off to room temp, see what psi it is at, mine is at 3850 psi, then stick it in the coldest freezer you have, the tank should cool off to around 3000psi, then take it back to the shop and tell them how many psi to fill the tank to 4500-3850= 650psi. I would thell them to boost it 600 psi to be safe, this method is completely safe, normally carbon fiber tanks have a burst disc at 7000 psi, so if you go a little over it poses little to no safety risk, to check how much your tank can really fill up to look at the number on the burst disc. I DO NOT TAKE ANY BLAME IF ANY INJURIES ARE GIVEN DUE TO MISTREATMENT OF THE TANK, OR NOT LISTENING TO SAFETY WARNINGS. I however am going to do this later today. The tank will cool causing the tank to drop pressure by about 50psi, because the 4000 beforehand had already cooled, by this I mean 3000psi (out of the freezer+600= 3500 still cool, when at room temp it should rise to about 4400.

Sounds like an excellent way to blow yourself up. Congradulations for your brilliance.

Then again, it was a excellent idea, just violates about a billion safety issues.

Oh, ill take it out of the freezer then.

LMAO @ Van. Seriously though, do not play around with items under extreme pressure. Not safe by any means. Mush less introducing them to cold temps. Good way to let your parents collect on that life insurance policy they have on you.

I feel your pain Klassy Guy. When I woodsball (in my backyard), it is very tough to run to the local PB Shop and get a fill. There is nothing worse than coming back with a 4500 tank that only has 3600psi in it. It freakin' sucks. Don't know about you but it is time for me to invest in a scuba tank fill station.

At the speedball field where all-day fills part of the deal, this stuff isn't an issue.

I think I might save up for a very long time and buy a fill station, about 600 bucks from what I understand, I could be wrong. The fill station I'm talking about isn't a scuba tank filler, but a actual air compressor, that appeals a lot to me. And by the way the tank being in the freezer is just like paintballing in the winter, it isn't bad it's just not the best, Paintballing in the sahara desert isn't the best for your gear, neither is paintballing in Antartica. I did take the tank out of the freezer because 100 psi seemed like a waste to go back. I got my co2 filled up for my 98c so if I run out of air, I will be ok.

Hmmmmm....I always thought the cost for a compressor that'll fill at least 3,000psi are very expensive? Along the lines of $5,000-$10,000 or so. Maybe you are looking at something diffrent than what I am.

You are right though. I've played with my HPA tank in below freezing weather and then didn't think twice about just bringing it in a nice warm house.

I thought the same. I looked at this system but damn is it spendy.

The American Airworks E1 (5000psi) http://www.americanairworks.com/images/fast90compact.jpg sells for almost $10k

The personal American Airworks stations sell for a bit under $3500 not including tanks. Cheapest tanks (3 for cascade) will run you another $1500 minimum.

or you could drop $150 on a used [at store so completely recertified] SCUBA tank, and $80 on a fill station. Only 3k but you can get 10 or so fills on a 68.

As for playing outside and bringing it in, as long as it was filled inside there would be no issues. I am talking about filling a cold tank, as compressing gas creates heat, causing your tank to change in temperature rapidly. Not good.

Where exactly do you think you can get your hands on a working compressor for $600?

I have no Idea, i thought that might be the price of one of them, might have glanced at a compressor ad in a paintball magazine, and next to it was a ad for something that was 600 bucks. I guess I was wrong.

The cheapest compressors for 4500 psi that I have seen are $2500 - $4000. A scuba tank you can get for about $100 easy and a fill station off the net for another $50.00. Scuba setup is the cheapest way to go, although you only get the 3000 psi fills. But who cares just top off after every game. By far the cheapest way to go. Check ebay for used scuba tanks.

yeah, bauer compressors had the team compressor, kinda like that compact 6 for $2k. one of our local stores actually fills to 4.8 or 4.9k psi and then it drops off to 4.4 or 4.5k. not a bad system because they take a while filling it up to 4k and then slam fill the extra 800 psi in it. noone's blown up yet.

Are there services where you can rent scuba tanks and a company will come and swap it with a fresh one like every month or so?

Not sure on the scuba, but you can do it with 3000psi or 4500 psi bulk tanks. Check out companys like Liquid Air [Air Liquide] etc etc. They do nitrogen and co2 for comercial uses. If you have to go find a welding shop and find out who supplys their co2 tanks for MIG welding.

Oh I see, thanks man.

Does anyone know if I can find a compressor that at least fills 3000 PSI for around 1000-1200?

Thats what my team does, not with scubas though. We have 4 of the big bulk tanks and have to trade them out for full ones about every 10 days or so. Since we go through so much air the place we get our tanks from cuts us a deal, last time it only cost us $86.00 to trade out all four of them.

Good luck, and take a course on HPA tanks if you choose to go that route, most compressors at 7k+
