View Full Version : trouble with removing the ram

i kno how to get the ram out and i had the right tool. emphasis on had. i used circlip pliars since i couldn opull it out with my nails without causing myself excruating pain. i had two of my circlip pliar tips snap on me last night. one of the tips just came clean off. what do u guys use? i have tha nagel tool kit and i can unscrew it to a point with the ram tool but after that i need something to pull it out. what do u suggest i try ?

can you see the thread when you go as far as you can??? if so grab pliers of some sort but put somethin between the teeth and thread or you WILL F**K up them threads

push it from the other side.. near the bolt.. get some stick or toothpick or something that wont scratch anything... and push

ok so ur suggesting to use soft grip pliars to yank it out allright ill try that next time i lube it.
I have tried pushing it from the other side bue i just cante get enough leverage.

I wouldn't take a chance of damaging the threads. Remove the exhaust valve entirely. Then you can use a wooden dowel stuck through the bore (where the exhaust valve used to be and push the ram out. Basically your dowell will go into the marker on the 'business' end of the marker and push the ram out.
try it and let me know if it works.

ok thanks now my only prob is have to figure out how to get the valve out cause i havent done that yet and im a little nervous about taking that out

Grab an allen wrench, a wooden dowel if you are petrified about scratching the hammer, and push the ram out via the bolt pin pathway. You do not have to disassemble any further this way.

use an allen key to push it out by the hammer what he said ^^
