Hey i was wondering if the placement of the ram would effect the performance of the gun. And if so how far should it be screwed in?

yes it can, it can make the gun faster or slower, can also effect the paint, like if you have a chop, it can be the cause of poorly adjusted ram
adjust it so that you can hear a click when you close the breach

A properly adjusted ram can also up your velocity by up to 20 fps.

Should it be forward enough so it clicks , or back enough so it clicks?

you should be able to see the very front of it where the bolt pin fits in right, if you can barely see it, then something is wrong right? The part where the bolt fits on the hammer should line up with the big slot under the rotabreeche where the bolt goes.
