View Full Version : weird problems

I love my speed but had a few problems last time I was at the field. First the batery died, I turned it on and off to see what the battery indicator said multiple times and it said two green ( or one I cant remember) and would'nt shoot. But the strange thing is that after I walked off and looked at the battery and realized that since I had never had to change the battery before and wanted to have the manuel with me when I changed it (the manuel was in my gun case back at the staging area to the woods fields and I had made the long trek to the airball fields) I decided to try it one more time. When I tried it it showed that the battery still had juice (two orange I think) and I was able to shoot, I then walked back to the staging area happy my battery still had enough juice for the last game of the day and right as the game started I fired a few shots to make sure everything was ok, thats when my gun died and showed two green lights on the battery meter. The next problem really is just about upgrades and tweaking. My speed is very inconsistent, and I hate the o-rings in the feedneck, if anyone knows how to fix the inconsistency (I think it should probably be broken in by now) or where to buy the one piece o-ring I would really appreciate this. Sorry for the long explanation I wanted to make sure I had listed everything so I could get good responses and not waste peoples time. Thank you.

I am not sure on the lights but is sounds like you might have the bright light shutdown problem.
As far as consistancy goes what are your settings? Dwell, LPR, input pressure, paint to barrel, crappy paint, etc....

Here's the problem with "battery indicators". They show the "potential" left in the battery but usually when you're checking your battery indicator in the marker for example, the battery is under a relatively light electrical load...So as a result, the battery indicator overestimates charge left in the battery. then when you take it out and start shooting, you place a heavier demand on the battery and it quickly dies. The exact same thing happened to my son's marker. He told me he thought the battery was almost gone and, like you, I checked the battery status and told him his battery was fine. But I took his marker and played the next game with it and it quit on me in the middle of the game. it was so bad, I had to leave the marker turned off until I knew I was ready to shoot and then turn it on and shoot and turn it back off. (This is aside from the story but I ended up running kamikazi on a guy and distracting hiim while my teammate shot him....Guess it all worked out in the end!)
A couple of tricks to try with respect to the twist feed. First, put your hopper on the marker and tighten down the twist feed and leave it that way for a couple of days. That will shape the o-rings to fit around your hopper. The second thing and I do this all the time, is put the top of the twist feed and the o-rings onto the throat of your hopper. Then with the orings on the hopper, turn your marker upside down and push the hopper into the marker while twisting the hopper just a tudge. This will ensure that none of the o-rings get rolled out of position as you insert the hopper into the marker. Then, using another helper if possible, have the helper hold the hopper while you push the marker closer to the hopper and tighten the twist feed.
The twist feed is conceptually a great idea but it does not work in practice.

The paint was crappy but since it was the only stuff I had I did'nt even check the match. I know that paint match makes a difference but this was like +- 20 sometimes, do you think it makes that much of a difference. The settings are all stock and its coming from an lp tank. Also sometimes it seems to lobn the balls, do you thnik this is related.

+/- 20 = crappy paint and crappy paint to barrel match.

Ok, so paint makes even a bigger difference then I thought, and I need to change the battery right? Also only mt's can flash the board right, if so any mt's located in California (to get the newest software to fix/prevent the bright light shut down). Also I was using the stock barrel, not my longbow.

I am a true believer. It sounds cliche but I believe paint and paint to barrel match (or the lack of either) is responsible for the majority of problems.
