Well I have 2 cases waiting for me at my local field and I plan on starting the break in period.

When all is said and done, how should I clean my G7 when I come back home?

Thanks in advance for any insight or tips and advice.

On my speed 05, after every 5 cases, id put acouple drops of love juice in the macroline. And then id fire without the bolt like 100 shots..
wipe down the breech get all the excess oil out of it. Go out have fun...

I coulda done something wrong tho :notsure:

I did the same, use a tooth brush to get into them hard places, where grit and grime hold, also take the bolt out if needed, wipe clean, then put love juice on it,i also ran my pull through the chambers to clean the eyes, just use (CLEAN WATER) to wipe ur marker down, dont add any substances,.... Have fun breaking them in matey ;)

If i recall correctly El Pirata was using some sort of Surface cleaner on a rag and it worked great. But dont do this untill El Confirms.. We dont want any problems...

Hmmm, Anyone care to clarify. I too thought the bolt would absorb the oil and swell.

Recap

Put a couple drops into the macro every 5 cases.
Shoot about 50 shots. WITHOUT THE BOLT
Take a squegie run thru the breech.
Wipe down with a rag.
Use toothbrush to get grime, excess oil, and nasty stuff out of
And If El Pirate confirms what surface cleaner he used to wipe down his gun do that to...

And every so 50 cases or so you might wanna send it to a MT to get checked out.

You can drop one drop of angel juice on a rag and wipe the gun down with it.

At least it says so in the manual and I've always done it on my previous angels

so then by your recap PBsmurf, you disagree with kyzer?

no oil on the bolt, right?

PBsmurf

Yes i disagree about oil on the bolt.. It swells your bolt and it could cause problems. WHich i personally dont wanna give to any fellow AOG members..
So be safe and take out the bolt.

~AAdd oil in the macroline and remove the bolt. Fire 20 - 50 shots to get the oil through your marker. Wipe off excess oil in and around the breech and put the bolt back in. As far as cleaning, wipe it down with a minimum of rags or paper towels. I will damp a cloth with 50/50 water/denatured alcohol and wipe the whole thing down. Use q-tips to get paint out of the hard to reach places. Also some of the computer keyboard cleaner is good for those types of places or some compressed air (better). Main thing you nneed to do is remove paint/residue from the marker and any dirt and grime.

In case I was not clear, oil + bolt = swell. Delrin is notorious for swelling. Heat, humidity, paint, time/space continium the thing will swell. Ertalyte is supposed to not swell but I have found it can swell over time. Ertalyte TX (which DEZ uses in his bolts) Is not supposed swell nor have I seen it swell. Bottom line here is if you have paint on your bolt, rinse it off inside and out. I would suggest against using any chemicals or cleaning agents to clean it. Use a rag or a paper towel to dry it.

Thats the way i do mine,i surpose lots of ppl clean there markers and maintain them defferent, but all i put on the bolt was a tiny drop, and shot a few times, but what PBsmurf is saying,is the right way to maintain the gun...

another thing that I always do is remove the barrel and dry fire into a rag a few times incase you have any grit in the marker this way it goes onto the rag and not in the brl

The other day I had a brl break and it was all over the porting and after I swabed it it was still not as clean as it could have been I soaked the brl over night and that did not get out the old grime.. I put some soap in the water and let it soak over night againe and it got most of it out .. .use a DRY brl swab and took it out into the back yard.. put a drop of oil in the bolt and dry fired to coat the brl . It seamed to be really good..
My question is what do people think about that ? Back 10 years ago ppl were saying put oil down the brl to keep it "slick" and I never bought into that but i would like to know what people do to keep the brl in good shape.

Lose the oil, you don't need it. Cleaning the barrels after breaks it's best to just use a shot or 50/50 alcohol water or just straight water. In the evening I will just use warm water inder the sink.

If you're going to put anything down the barrel that's not paint, water or air then I'd recommend "Rain-X." I know what you're all thinking but it does work. Honestly, though you shouldn't have to put anything in the barrel to keep it clean during play. Just squeegee the crud out and rinse out the barrel at the end of the day.

One "trouble spot" to keep in mind is the breech rod on the opposite side (hinge) as it is exposed. Over time if enough moisture gets in there it'll rust and may possibly cease up the breech. It's a good idea to remove that rod and clean out the channel every other month or so.

Is it OK to clean paint out of the breech with alcohol? I'm not sure if alcohol is one of the "solvents" that are a no-no.

Thanks.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but when you put oil in the macro line, take out the bolt AND barrel, but I'm sure you already know this. Just hold a towel in front of your gun and dry fire it so the oil goes through your marker.

Also, for clean the eyes, instead of a toothbrush, I just use a can of compressed air (like the ones used to clean computer keyboards). I use it for the eyes, and a lot of other areas on the marker (small crevices where rags can't get into). It works great.

Other than that, I use a little water and pieces of an old flannel bed sheet to wipe my marker down. VERY SOFT and leaves no scratches, etc.

When I service my angel I usually drop a few drops in the end caps, fire a few rounds with the bolt in. Grease the ram, lpr, and inline reg. Then I wipe off any excess oil on the bolt and any spot that the bolt touches. Pop out eyes out the side and wipe them off with damp towel, then take a small piece of cloth and poke it through the eye holes to make sure its clean. Put the eyes back in and then your good to go. I haven't had any problems with my G7 Arsenal and its been very consistant.

no oil on the bolt. the bolt is made of delrin wich is self lubricating. it has microscopic holes in it that the oil gets in. no good. it will were out your bolt.

NO! Do not I repeat do not put oil in the mini reg, take off the lpr cap and put a verry small drop there, and shoot without the bolt, then wipe it down.

This is coming from Mr.Crane himself

DO NOT oil, grease or wash the bolt. Just wife it with a clean cloth. DO NOT put oil down the micro line it will gunk up the reg, two or three drops behind the LPR cap is fine and a little on the hammer. DO NOT dry fire your marker with out the bolt in place.

A few people screwed up their ram after firing their G7s without the bolt in.

*Update* Nevermind, couldn't remember if it was breech pins or the ram.
Thanks for correcting me

Straight from Ken Crane:

NO ONE will mess up their ram by dry firing without the bolt. The only issue you may run into by dry firing without the bolt is the breech pins can get bent from the breech being opened by the force of air. 2 solutions, both easy, first manually hold the breech shut while dry firing 20 - 50 time, second manually hold the breech open while dry firing 20 - 50 times.

Either way you have absolutely ZERO potential to damage your ram.
