Has anyone ever played skins. A group of the fields, from where I live, have starting playing Skins games almost every weekend. Pretty much what happens is you play on 2 man teams (and now they have it set up for 3 man teams) to win everyone else's money. Here is a link to get information about it:

http://www.isasinc.com/

There has nothing but great response from all of the people that are participating, and maybe you can convince your local field to look into and run a skins game one time.
But I am sure most of you are thinking, "Oh but it is only 2 man (or 3 man), and 2 man (or 3 man) sucks." But the reason why it is that many players is because the games are more based on the individual and their talent, plus then there is more money for each person when it is divided. In fact an individual can play as a Maverick, and can inturn take home more $$.

But anyway, read up on it, and hopefully we can get fields around the country running skins games.

Nothing like taking the idea of golf game and bringing it to paintball

A couple of things..
1.) Nice Avatar hans02
2.) Glad to see an Angel in the hands of the player on the Skins website.
3.) Good idea!!!

There are actually a lot of similarities between golf and paintball. We both play in the grass,or sand/dirt, and in the ruff. Some guy's gear bags have enough markers, to seem like a golfer's set of clubs (Hmm, lets see it is 3 man speedball, I think I will use the...). So what is wrong with playing for skins?

great idea, lets introduce betting/gambling to the underage. any field that would support this type of gameplay and allow underage persons (under 21), would definatly be putting themselves in very bad situation of being shut down. all it will take would be one 12 year old crying to mom how someone "took" their money.

just my opinion

well wut would u call every other tourney? looking at anything from a different perspective can make it seem bad. You pay lots of money to compete in nppl (ur bet) and u play (gamble) to try to win more than you put in. Everything can be reduced to a bad counterpart. BTW, i've seen that skins format around a few times and have always wanted to try it...

tru
and why would you not just go out and bet money on someone and play them..rather then handle with the company that does it and pay them money?
whowever invented the company to come up with that is losing alot of money..

you dont seem to be getting what im saying. in the stated rules i did not see anything about age req. or parents consent. if you enter any tourney and under the age of 18 dont you have to have a legal guardian sign waiver of consent ?

like previous stated it will only take 1 sobbing kid crying to mom to have a field shut down for consenting to something of this nature.

im all about winner take all but i dont think this is the proper avenue to take to promote this sport to younger players.

i hope your not talking to me...
i disagree with this whole thing completely
what i meant to say was that why wouldnt you just go out and play some kids and bet money instead of goign through all this?

Age requirements are placed mostly because insurance companies require it.

Why does it always have to come to the kids. Just because it is held at a field does not mean that it has to be during some kids 12th birhtday. I mean people use some common sense. :stooges: If you notice the skins format is run by a vendor basis, and just because the rules don't state an age limit does not mean that the field can't put restrictions. I simply brought this up because it is very popular at my home field, and many of the fields around where I live. But then there are always Nay-sayers that come in rippen up your thread because they are too scared to put THEIR money where their mouth is. Instead they hide behind, "What about the kids..." Paintball isn't just about the kids you know. Just like any other sport, there are many age groups that play. So next time use a little bit of thought process before you come in raggin on my thread.

Everyone else, thanks for reading up on it and showing some interest. This is a very fun format, and it is most definitely put up or shut up. I hope to see this game play expand around the country.

hans in your first quote of my post i was refering the persons betting being of legal betting age (21).

you mention common sense ?, where in my posts do u see anything about birthday parties ?

i was just stating that many of the people playing paintball on any field at any given time is people of less than 21 years of age, and this could be a situation the field owner might not want to put himself in.

i am 34 years old and have a child of my own. since i am in this situation i tend to be able to look at things with a bit of a different view.

i did not intend to "come in rippen up your thread" and definatly not "scared to put my money where my mouth is."

why dont you take a little of your own advice and use a little common sense and try to look at someone elses point of view.

Well I guess I did forget that the rest of the world uses 21 as the age to begin gambling, and were i come from it the legal age is 18.

When you play a skins game, it isn't like you just say, "Oh hey I still have a case of paint left and it is only 2 in the afternoon. Why don't we play a skins game?"

No it is a little more organized than that, and actually most fields hold their skins games later in the day (the local indoor field starts at 5 pm, and the outdoor field starts at around 3:30 pm).

http://www.markempaintball.com/events.html

Read the top of that page. A majority of the players I play with are 18 and over anyway, so no age limit is really set. Plus like Presto put it, it is a just another tournament, only it has a cash pay out.

Now just tell your local field that they should become a vendor, and then have them host some games. Its a good way to take your friends money.
