stripped detent

How do you guys take your detents out when they are like stripped. No screw driver fit well.

I use a 2 pence piece (not sure of the USA equiv). Works every time for me. Failing that - get some snipe (pointy) nose pliers on the sides - and then buy new detent covers ;).

cut a slot the other way (perpendicular to the original one), you should be able to use a coin or screwdriver then

what kind of tool would you use?

hacksaw or dremel. just make sure you don't hit the body or you'll ding it

tape the side you do not want to mar with painter's tape and a variable speed dremel works well.
