View Full Version : Adjustments with a Halo B

I just ordered a Halo B for my Impact IR3. I've heard on this forum that I'll need to tighten down the detent. How much tighter? I don't want to tear up the o-ring underneath it.
And do I need to change anything with the gated feed? I've heard that you don't need it with a Halo. How do you take out the gated feed? (My IR3 is still in the mail, so I haven't had a chance to see how things come apart).
Anything else I should know about using a Halo B?

I would think you can test your detent resistance by taking your barrel off, putting paint in the Halo, and pointing the gun down. Just like you should check your detent anyway. If it pushes paint past the detent adjust it in. Too far in will hinder your bolt though so watch out.
The gated feed threads into the body just like any other feed tube. If you remove it you will need to install something else to hold the Halo neck. I would probably just use it unless you have some problems.
Always try it out before you change it!

I did not have to make any changes

But what does the gated feed do wrong, that I would need to take it off?

Styles, You're a little off about the gated feed. The feed tube unscrews in 2 pieces then you can take out the peice of plastic that makes it a gated feed. Then screw it back together.
My IR3 seems to be shooting a little more consistently with the gated feed (plastic piece) removed from the feed tube. But I'm using a Halo B. I haven't tried it with a Revvy.

The gated feed doesn't hold the hopper. The feed neck holds it. The gated feed is simply a removable piece of plastic between the 2 pieces of the feedneck.

I realize that big guy, I was saying the gated feed screws into the gun like any other feed tube. He asked how you take it out.

watch out w/ that HALO B, don't use black shelled paint. You'll burn the motor up like I did. I only used half black shelled paint, and after one 5-man game, the motor was burnt up. Since I've gotten it back from warranty repair, I have had no prob w/ it....You have to do a lot of sanding on the neck of it tho cos it is really large.

That's probably why the manual says in large print. "Do not use black or half black shelled paintballs!"
I love my Halo B. It's real quite and smooth I never here it feeding until the hopper is empty.
And what does the manual mean by "letting it prime itself..."? Do you need to let it wind up some before you fill it with paint for the first time? I don't get it.

I saw the big bold print, but you never know what will happen until you try something will you? :) what it is talking about w/ the priming the spring only has to be done if you run the hopper dry and let it keep turning....unlike a revvy, the motor doesn't turn the paddle, it simply winds up a spring which keeps pressure applied to the paint pushing it down into the feed neck. So, don't let the motor keep winding the spring when it has nothing to hold the paddle still to apply winding pressure....Hope i didn't confuse you..LOLOL....

No it didn't confuse me. That's kinda what I figured it meant.
Ignoring the instructions was pretty stupid huh? It's a good thing it was under warranty. But I'm sure you had to pay shipping.

yeah, but I had no other practice paint, only half black shells...I din't think it would do anything but run my batts down or something, not burn the motor up....I broke out old reliable after that tho (12v w/ x-board) and shot 'em up....oh, and no, I didn't pay for the shipping, the field owner (our sponsor) did....
