I'm thinking of installing the opto trigger in my ir3 and just wanted to do a little bit of research on it. if anyone would be able to give me info on how much it is or where to get it installed it would be a big help.

It's over $125 for to get the new optical trigger boards.

Mr. Crane has a post in here about the board swap out that WDP is planning. It's either on the board or the "Product News" board. It might be worth contacting him and seeing what he has to say as far as time lines and such.

stay with the microswitch, you can adjust that one way better than the opto trigger...

the opto board sucks. i had and opto and i could get 12pbs when i sold that board and got a switch i went upto 18bps. i dont think its worth the money. just my opinion, do whatever you want.

Another advantage of the opto gives a "no contact" signal. This is why fiberoptics is so good. In the old days, ignition points would burn (internal combustion engines) and have to be replaced. Electronic ignition systems replaced the old "points and condenser" systems. The same goes for Angels. In industry, we utilize "proximity" (no contact) switches instead of microswitches. There are no moving parts or contact parts to wear out. These prox switches are either mass sensing or light sensing. Great stuff for the long run. professional, personal opinion.

I personally like the microswitch better, I like having a bounce in my trigger for short burts. I run it on a Halo B, so it doesn't really matter any way if the rof is not consistent. I have played with my friends opti-switch and I don't like the feel of it. Just my opinion.

I like how the opta board has that leaf spring type lever which triggers the board. This allows you to take out the trigger spring yet still have a perfectly working trigger with some spring to it. Also, how can you adjust a micro switch better than the opta? The opta' firing point is so short that you can set the trigger like at .05 mm, which is ridicuously short. you can't do that on a micro switch because it has to reset itself.

I laugh because all you people that are out there trying to set your triggers to have all this bounce....the NPPL brought in someone whose sole responsibilty is make calls on these "shady" areas of the rules such as "Trigger Bounce" and if he says it's got too much bounce you're gone buddy, have a nice day!!!!!!!

I don't mean having enough bounce to shoot the gun like full auto, just a little gives the trigger a nice feel in short burts when snap shooting, off the break, ect.

but captncrunch.......remember trigger bounce has always been considered a ref call.....now the NPPL is actively pursuing it, so it will be alot harder to get away with now.

yes I know, I have the triggers on my markers set so that a ref could shoot it and wouldn't notice, It is a bounce but, more of just a nice feel to the trigger than one that would increase the rof, when I play recball, well thats a whole different story.
