View Full Version : Disassembly of angel speed hard?

I just wanted to know if taking apart the speed is a difficult task. I just got a used speed and the body is scratched up pretty bad. I was thinking about tearing it down and having it re-anodized but I'm worried about screwing up the marker. The solenoid is what spooks me the most cause it's expensive. Any thoughts...thanks.

Need your marker torn down for anodizing service? We can completely strip your Angel and even forward it directly to the anodizer to save you time (additional shipping applies).

It isn't that bad, I've taken my Speed and LED apart many times to clean and to re-anodized.

I would be familiar with some of the more commonly taken out parts, ie: Ram, LPR, and the exhaust side spring, rod, and bobbin.
The gun is really easy to take apart and care for.
BUT, the biggest factor in that is how you feel doing it. If you are comfortable, then go for it. If not, then I agree with roberts.

yeah, it's really not that hard if you read the manual and are intelligent about it. ie, don't pull on wires that are stuck, etc.

You have obviously picked the wrong forum and day for trash talk. I have come to the conclusion you are just ignorant to the facts. Yes, stripping the marker down for anodization can be a very simple task as long as the marker is cooperative. Have you asked "Why do the anodizers not provide this service"? What happens when the small grub screws become stripped and must be extracted? What happens when the pesky pivot pins cannot be removed easily and more extreme measures must be applied? What happens when the breech needs to be re-aligned because the pivot pins had to be replaced? What happens when the anodizer fails to clear the air passages? Not only do we disassemble the marker, send the marker to your choice of anodizers and then when completed re-assemble and tune making it a for lack of better words a WMD.

hmm.....maybe i should stay out of this one? na sorry. ok stripping a gun for anno, ever try and remove the front air passage screws on a 04 speed and not break an allen key or doing it without stripping the screw out? guess you have not. so stripping the gun, labeling the parts so you know what was sent and what was returned after anno, packing the peices and shipping them to the anno guy. now after they return you must clean and blow out all air passages, fix any wiring that will almost always be messed up then reassembling setting pressures and testing then reshipping. so you say 75.00 is too much. lets see seems to me 35.00 for each half of this process seems fair to me. but if you would like to do it for people cheaper maybe we can have everyone send them to you and see how long you do them for less.....their is a reason why most of the top anno guys have our names listed as a center for disassembley, becuse we do it right. if the owner of the gun can do it themselfs thats great but DONT say we screw people charging 75.00 to provide this service. you are flat out out of line in the way you aproached this subject. hope you get a good tan while your on vacation.....

You should - end of :).
Ken is right (and so is Bob). Stripping is easy. Any kind of demolition is easy. Re-assembly is not so easy. Neither is cleaning/re-boring bits after the anno'er left 'burrs' in there. I have stripped and re-built many an angel - but I would seriously think twice about re-building after a hairy-ass'd anno'er had got his hands on it ;).
Remember - anno'ers are just that - not gun techs - so it's not their fault - they do their bit...
$75 (or even £75 for us UK'ers) is quite cheap considering the time involved (and any replacement parts that may be needed - oh - and the 'service' and love your marker gets afterwards). Although I think P&B was actually trying to be 'funny' - and not make a serious comment - I think he should say so (after the 14-y-old is un-banned of course ;)).
