What do they do, if anything? When my friend was setting up my lpr he told me that i didnt need them at all. I've been shooting fine so far; the fps thou hasn't usu. been over 270 (lol its got a
-/+ of about 10; thanks to my preset). Its probibly nothing to worrie about, it's just there though.

They increase or decrease your LPR. Its usually when they break in period is over that you have to add one but not always.

as stated they will raise the pressure of your LPR. Slap the LPR gauge on your marker, and check it out. Since you're shooting an IR3 it should be about 95 or so. If it's lower than that you need to put 1 or more shims under the spring stack. Once you get your LPR up to the set range you'll perform better too.

When you say your velocity hasn't been above 270, is that by choice, or the marker won't go over that? If it won't go any higher then you most definitly need to check your LPR is set right, and then look at your mini-reg. I believe we had this problem on someone elses marker here just recently. I think it was the guy from Greece. I know that when my LED had a velocity problem that's what it was, check your minireg clean it etc.

Emmits right you use them to increase the LPR pressure. This is the pressue used to drive the Ram. So higher LPR=faster Ram speed. Which in turn equates to hitting the valve harder. Each one equals around 3.5 psi but some do vary a bit and be sure you don't get two stuck together

Yeah your right, even though my preset tanks puts the fps every where i still should check out the lpr. Guess it's time to pick up an angel tool kit, lol (and maybe later a better tank). thanks

Yeah it will drive you crazy when u cant figure out why your LPR is so high with only 2 shims..."OOPS its really FOUR shims!" lol

guys you are talking about shimes and I just whant to ask if it is normal that one of my IR3's needed 8 sims in order to achieve 95+ psi at the LPR...

is that normal?

thanx

duracell- dont take advice from your friend anymore. the reason you cant get over 270 is because your lpr is too low. ADD A SHIM(s)!!!!lower pressure also isnt as consistent as HP because it is less tolerant to dirt, grease, etc. so a low lpr pressure could, infact, cause inconsistency. i use a crossfire preset 68/4500 and get +/- 3 every time. like said before rebuild the minireg if upping your lpr pressure doesnt help the inconsistency.

andronikos- haha i dont think 8 shims is normal. just something to think about. if u play indoors and play at sub-250s your lpr pressure will naturally be low when looking at your lpr gauge. this is not an accurate reading because to get an accurate reading you HAVE to put 500 psi GOING STRAIGHT INTO THE IR3-NOT INTO THE MINIREG!!! so if shooting at sub-250s you will need to put like 8 shims in it til u get the desired fps. so this could be your problem, a broken lpr gauge can be your problem(which has happened a few times), or maybe your lpr is just different or messed up. if it was me i would check it out though because it doesnt sound right.
