I would not say that it is for losers, Just that everyone has there own (vice) a way to relax . Someone elses vice may not be yours. Mine is beating the piss out of a punching bag when I get home from work for about a hour.

:stooges: Sometimes it can be, I work for Branch Banking & Trust (bb&t) at the helpdesk 2nd shift 3:00pm to 12:00am You name it I get it. PC problems, ATM problems, etc. Like tonight is really bad. I am going to go home hit the bag, take a shower and watch some Paintball2Xextemes on dvd. Due to the fact I don't have any better ones.

One of the main reasons smoking relieves stress is because your body is craving a cig, and to smoke, relieves your crave... IMO it's retarded.

now maybe i smell like smoke, and my car windshield gets a little nicotine coated, and yes i complain about the pleasure nazi's in MA. charging something along the lines of 100% salestax on cigarettes and telling me i cant smoke in a bar. but its my vice (which i enjoy) and i have no intention of quitting anytime soon.

Smoking .. everyone has their own opinion, while im not a smoker and smoke does a number to me when exposed to it for long periods of time(bars) I am not one to hate on them. On the other hand my biggest pet peave is when people flip their butts out the window and it hits the front end of my vehicle, it causes me to have severe road rage and flip out. I scream and yell but thats the farthest its went so far.

As long as smokers smoke in designated areas its alright with me; however, there should be a law that stipulates that designated smoking areas must be far far away... Where I work... the people who smoke, smoke right in front of the entrance...

That one's a little sketchy there, Pirate boy. I work in a Medical Intensive Care Unit where we have long term smokers on a regular basis that are on the ventilator (life support) to keep them alive because their lungs are so sick they can't live without it anymore. They end up going home or to a long-term nursing facility with a tracheostomy (hole in the throat). They can't talk anymore w/ out significant assistive equipment, some can never eat by mouth again (and have a tube placed in the side of their belly to feed them through a tube), and many just never recover at all. I've seen nicotine addictions so strong that the person comes back from having a trach put in and they want to go outside and smoke through the trach!
If you smoke and it makes you feel good, hey go ahead. But my kids shouldn't have to walk through the smoke to get into a building. If you want to have a pinch of Skoal or Cope, go ahead, that doesn't have any second-hand effects on passers-by and innocents (babies and children, esp.). I just hate that cigs are one of the few products that will cause significant harm up to and including death if used exactly as intended by the manufacturer.

Of course, my dad smokes, and he's still a cool cat.

Been tobacco free for just over a month now. Copenhagen is or I should say was my choice of dip for almost 20 years. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone to try. If you don't smoke or chew, don't start.

my brother dips since he was as freshman in high school(he is a senior now) and ive told him that he should quick cause dip is worse then smoking(i saw a study somewhere)...and ive picked up smoking cause my mom smokes and there is a easy supply..
i dont think i would have started if i had to pay for it, but since i dont and i can take some every now and then without here noticing thats why i started..

i think everyone has made good points be they pro or con. i agree with it being wrong to discard filters (thats all thats left when im done with them) out the window, or on the sidewalk (even though i do it, but i make sure the ground is littered with trash before i add to it).
to add a different twist on the death side of smoking (pirata made a point i agree with earlier), after no "smoking anywhere in public" laws came into effect people died as a result. off the top of my head i remember the bar bouncer being killed because he told some "person" that he couldnt smoke in the bar (i think this was in NY). and here in MA a guy was hit by a car, and died because he had to go outside the bar he was at to smoke.
and as its been said several times so far. if you dont use tobacco dont start.

What is a dip (i don't want to sound stupid), and when people light up in the shack (its just plywood with screen) where you rest before paintball games start I need to leave and go outside. Smoking is horrible, if you don't mind that you are killing yourself, mind that you are slowly killing about 10 people per puff you take. I hate the smell of smoke and quite truthfully my health teacher had a student whose uncle was the guy below the CEO of a major tobacco company, and did he smoke, NO HE DIDN'T. Every puff you take kills you and other people around you. If you are addicted to nicotine, they need to make it available in pill form so you aren't hurting others, only yourself. In my discover magazine it said that nicotine bumps up your IQ a few points so that is the ONLY good thing, however some people are working on a non-addictive substance that does the same thing without hurting you. I feel bad for the children of people that smoke, they have a very high percent chance of getting second hand smoke, and its not like they had a chance to say I want you to stop smoking for my sake for the first few years of their life. Do the world a favor and flush you cancer sticks. I don't want to offend smokers, but realize what you are doing. I don't smoke and have never done drugs (I had surgery once and had to take perscription painkillers, thats it), and I will never smoke.

For what reasons do you criticize people who smoke.....even before I started smoking I would be around them my mother being one of them and it never has bothered me unless I was like sick then it fealt suffocating but besides that it isnt that bad and if you dont want to be around it you can avoid it very easily and if you dont smoke dont even try it cause you will probally pick up the habbit but for those of us who do smoke please just get off our backs and dont same it's unhealthy cause it is but tell me something that isnt now days I mean people have even gotten Mad Cow Disease from water so that even rules out water :(

I didn't know you could get mad cow from water, however it does make sense because it is a prion, not a virus or bacteria. A prion is a rouge protein that acts like a virus, and because it is a protein the immune system doesn't classify it as a danger so it meanders into your system and turns your brain into a sponge. It literally does, your brain looks like swiss cheese (I hate swiss cheese, provolone is good though)

Well §§§§ I have been smoking now for 20 YEARS!! Yes I started when I was 10 and it was the worst freak'n mistake I ever made. If you dont smoke now....dont ever start. It never realy bothered me growing up cause I was and still are a basketball head and used to run track. When I came in the Marine Corps I could run 3 miles in 15 to 16 minutes flat, well now Im up to 25 minutes and hating it AND I can feel it killing me, I want to get back down into the teens time frame, just incase I have to go back and end up chasing some damn insurgents over in the sandbox!!!!
Do I like to smoke, for some odd reason yes, but 10% of me hates its cause it has control of me. Like right now as I type Im puff'n on a freakn Newport but, I have an appointment tomorrow at medical to start a new program to try and stop smoking.
Last but not least, if you dont smoke, dont bash those who do, you have no clue what it's like to try and stop for those who have tried and failed (tried many times myself). Put it like this, it would be like asking you to never play paintball again. And whoever said it's not a stress relief that is BS in their opinion, you try being off in the field out in the middle of nowhere and a smoke IS YOUR ONLY STRESS RELIEF, FEELS LIKE HEAVEN!!
