:doc: no prob. the sceptor is more study, the sleeves lock into place, and i think it is more accurate. the freak sleeves depend on orings to keep them in place. take a freak with an insert off a gun and look at how the sleeve sits in the back. you will notice it is not centered.

I have been using a freak since they came out and have never had a problem with them. Whether it is better or worse than another I have never had any problems with one.

...I would also look into the Sanchez Machine barrels like the SM-1, Orbium, etc. They have single, 2-piece and 3-piece kits. I find it's performance to be excellent, the fit and finish is excellent and Snachez customer service has been excellent as well.

If you have not noticed it in the thread before, there also seems to be a consensus among the MT's as well that the SM-1's are a good barrel (check out Bob Moon's site, FixMyAngel)..

my barrel is a freak back with a 8 inch stiffi tip..(makes a 14 inch barrel) this thing is perfect to me..if you know how to size balls with bores then this is the barrel for you, if you want a single solid barrel go to Lucky 15's.

the pip kit didnt get the highest rating in faceful u dumass. it got a four out of five. i have that issue. the freak killed the pip and so did many other barrels. plus the pipes are too weak, they break way too easy for a barrel kit that costs as much as it does.

Shoot one and have the expirence of doing so before you come out with a statement of distrust. They are just one of the smaller guys trying to make a good name in the business. The barrels that they make are high quality. If you've never shot the barrel or dealt with the company, don't bash them.

As far as being expensive, show me another kit out there with 2 tips and 6 inserts for under 200.00

i heard the scepters are more xpensive and if u break an insert its impossible to find a place where they sell scepter inserts, is this true?

what ever you do dont get the freak

i have a scepter kit and so does my teammate

facefull doesn't know crap i have seen this barrel clean breaks in 2-3 balls and shoot great after.

try compulsivepaintball.com or order directly now from powerlyte.com for all the inserts and backs

many newer backs avail now and $15 cheaper than before

ok longer explanation: most people buy a freak without looking at how it works. the inserts float around in the barrel. the scepter kit by design locks the inserts in so they cannot float around and cause random barrel breaks/funny shots. The reason most people/pros use the freak is because SP uses its marketing power. not because its a better kit.

Angel4boy
04-20-2005, 08:25 PM
hmmm float around you say...sometimes i cant even get my insert out of my freak barrel when i need to clean it or change an insert (have to use a straight shot) so i know for sure it doesnt move around and i am not interested in marketing a company only shooting the best setup i can lay my hands on...SP is a good company whether people want to admit that or not.. They sue to protect their products but thats another debate..

Ronin Samurai

yea, the myuth that the insert floats around is BS. my neighbor has the freak and when u screw in the front peice, the insert is locked in. the insert is unbal to move around or even spin. Wat u said was complete bull §§§§ and u know it.

well then im going to have to whip out quality of aterials and manufacturing process/tolerances.

Lets not even get started on qulality of materials i own a shocker............

and the scepter has been repeatedly demonstrated to clean broken paint quicker and with less accuracy loss.

not bs

btw the float is a small amount, enough to break a paintball at 300 fps and i have seen it with my buddy's freak kit. wishes he had a scepter now.

OK first of all angels are one the best made guns out there besides DYE so just be quiet.
2. If you are smart you should be able to clean your barrel before you waste more paint seeing if the big cloud of paint that just exploded out of your barrel was for real..
3. My freak is PERFECT it doesnt have break AT ALL... my angel doesnt CHOP and doesnt have BARREL BREAKS..so stop making a judgement based on one experience with your "buddy" (dont even try to list more experiences cause you already showed your ignorance)

fullmetaljester is a teammate of mine... he wasn't saying the angel had poor tolerances... he meant the shocker did. The shockers on our team have been nothing but problems. He and I both use a scepter, another uses a freak, another used to use an sm-1 but now uses a mix of ultralite backs and fronts.

I prefer the scepter because i have seen freak inserts move. I think what gave it the worst name was the problem with the model 98 back where there was a slight gap between the back and the gun causing ball breaks.

The original SM-1 barrel was a pain in the ass to clean because of the porting. I know that problem had been addressed and a new tip was made. The only other problem was the tool to remove the barrel would bend because it was too soft. Whether or not this has been changed i don't know. If the MT's see it as worty of their praise, I am sure it is a decent barrel.

Let's try to keep the personal attacks to a minimum and just answer the question with what we have experienced.

I own a freak on my 98c, I tried to take the plastic thing off the back of the barrel, but the stainless part just won't screw in, is this the problem you speak of. And the scepter sounds better, and staring down the back of my freak yes you can see the insert is off center, enough to effect accuracy, but you could easily compensate for this. That said I would easily take a scepter over a freak in half of a heartbeat. The Sanchez barrel sounds good, but I like the way the scepter works, all preference. For me the stock Infinity barrel is great. Does anyone know where to get 14 inch infinitys, my friend has one on his predatored a4 off ebay, but mine has a 12 inch.

I was wondering, the faceful mag said the scepter wasnt good, and gave it a 3 out of five, why is this? everyone on the forums say they are good?
