"Better" is a relative term. I don't think you're going to find a definitive answer at least here.
The best answer I think you'll get is that it depends on what you want.

check that set out.. I don't have any experience with the hammer head, but I do with the freak, and if the hammer head, and freak are close then the SM-1 blows them both away.. Now if the hammer head is a 100 x better then the freak, then maybe it can compete with the SM-1... :boobies:

imo ..get a stiffi tip and a freak back...i have shot tons of barrels and freak and all american tips but the best barrel combo i have used is the stiffi tip and freak back...it shoots almost perfect...no barrel breaks and if it does the paint is gone within 3 shots..

is the scepter any good, it loks like it is an exact copy of the freak, so wat is the difference if they both have trhwe same system (what makes them different barrels)?

ive seen ppl wit the freak and it doesnt seem to be that good, ive seen plenty barrel breaks wit the freak. The lucky 15 and the SM-1 orbium kits r the best from wut ive seen. And considering that the mt's sell the orbium kits thats gotta show for sumtin...

wat exactly is the sm-1 wat is it made of and wat not. wat i mean is, is it a two peice barrel kit with sleeves like the freak and scepter, or is it a two peice barrel, or a one peice barrel witha fin. or is a bunch of completely separate barrels like the lucky 15? wat is it, and why does everyone say they are so great?

The SM-1 is a three piece barrel. You can change tips, so you can have a 12"-14"-16" and the tips screw into the back just like any other barrel. Where the SM-1 is different from most other barrels is the inserts are reversed threaded, and screw into the back. You have to use a tool that comes with the kit to get the barrel tight when putting it on the gun. The barrels are made out of aluminum. They very light. check out the thread I made about new SM-1 kit that just came out. The MT's have them in stock right now. I gave a link in my earlier post you will have to scroll up.
Why don't you see many people with the kit? Dunno...Not really sure why I see so many people in neon green Bugs either, just some people are simple I guess.. ;) Each to his own right? Don't just buy something because you read a lot of propaganda about it. There are A LOT of teams, and people that Smart parts sponsors, so of course you are going to see A LOT of good advertisement on them. The freak set is wicked cheap IMO. I wouldn't waste my money on it. If it wasn't for the SM-1 kit I would just buy solid barrels, and have a bunch of different bores. I love how SOLID my barrel feels.

wat about the scepter, isnt that supposed to have a super "solid feeling" as well, and is the sm-1 better than the scepter?

I like my freak, havn't had any problems and the accuracy is great. Accuracy is paint to barrell match primarily. I bought my freak kit for my ion, then I used it on my PIMP and now i'll be using it on my angel, only cost me a new back each time.
Try em all out, but you may find like I did that the difference is pretty marginal as far as effectiveness while playing for straight microhoned barrells.
The hammerhead may be an exception to this as it usses a riffled barrell instead of a microhoned one like other manufacturers.
Personally I don't want a kit that requires a special tool, I'd be to afraid to loose it and then be screwed.

Barrel kits are pretty much useless on open bolt guns IMO. You are better off just grabbing a .692 Stiffi or Ultralite. With a big bore, you can shoot ANY paint w/o breaking pretty much and matching really doesn't do anything for consistency. I still get +/- 3 with an unmatched paint to barrel match on all my guns I have owned.

i somewhat agree. the most important thing is paint to barrel bore match.

I've got a SM-1 and i like it, shoots nice, cleans breaks (when they happen) in a few shots, and the insert backs and the barrel itself are the strongest most durable ive seen, and ive seen alot. Im actually trying to see if there's anything better than the SM-1 right now myself becasue of the one noticable downside, its HEAVY (that and it comes with 4 backs one of which I've NEVER USED, .679). I'd take my SM-1 over a freak just for the price and durability (supermans kill barrel tips) but it's about the same for accuracy and not even close to as light. One of my friends is an ANGEL gun master tech and he keeps recomending me a PIPE (actually im barrowing his right now for comparison) and it works pretty good.. and it comes with 5 backs.
