View Full Version : an interesting 'oh by the way'

I took my gun apart today for general cleaning. After I put the mini-reg back in, I inserted the velocity adjust screw all the way in (so, in other words, ball velocity would have been zero had I tried to shoot paint with it).
Afterward, I air up the gun and adjust the ram. once I'm done witht that, I isolate air to the gun and dry fire the gun with the air off to get any air out of the gun. I then go to open the breech and I can't because the bolt is forward. No big deal, it's happened before so I use the squeegee to push it back.
What is surprising is that as soon as I remove the squeegee, the bolt pops back forward and I can hear air forcing the bolt forward. Push it back again, let go, same thing happens. (now remember air is isolated from the gun)
I'm not really sure what caused this but as soon as I backed off the velocity adjust screw (from fully shut) this anomaly went away.
Anybody ever seen this before?

i fixed it myself.
just wondered if anyone else had ever seen that. weird that it had air isolated and yet air kept pushing the bolt forward.

Al, that's a new one on me. It could be that because a bare minimum of air was being let in that it created back pressure not allowing the solenoid to cycle normally.

i don't know why I decided to screw the velocity adjust all the way in, I guess I figured I'm going to have to chrono the gun next time at the field anyway so it didn't matter where I set it.
But I thought the same thing. With air isolated to the gun, that velocity adjust screw being closed had to have held air inside the gun.

and another question:
Does everyone else have trouble with the macroline leaking after you disconnect it or am I the only one?
The only way I've been successful at stopping the leak is to replace the line.

yeh bud i get the same probs ,the connector bites into the line alot on the first go so when you take it out and reconnect its already damaged .i just replace it - usually after 2 uses

grrr.
it's a minor annoyance...

By the book you are never supposed to reuse macroline. Personally I reuse until it leaks. It's not like a major investment but try changing your marcoline if it's leaking.

You know, I have found the easiest way to cut macroline is with a copper pipe cutting tool. It's one of those things that you clamp onto the pipe (or macroline in this case) and tighten it and then rotate it around the line and as it rotates it cuts the line.
The only other way I was ever able to cut through the stuff was with a razor but like as not, the razor would break while I was trying to cut it.

I just use scissors I clamp on to it and spin the scissors like you would with your pipe cutter gets the job done and its cheaper!

It's amazing how strong that stuff is. Hard to cut. What's more amazing is when the macroline on someone's gun blows out. Reminds you how much energy is stored in that air...

Al - Have you read the manual? Did you do a search? :repost: :repost:
Okay now that that sillyness is done...
Total theory here - but you have so little air that perhaps it takes slightly more air to run to hammer forward than it does back.
Odd. I know when I turn my air on and the bolt is slightly forward - it cycles the bolt once to reset the hammer and bolt.
#2 replace the fittings that WDP gives you with regular macroline and you should not have this problem again. I HATE the teeth on the WDP fittings - it eats macroline like a motha.

in my experiences , if you use the angel macro fittings they tend to hold a lot better, and are alot harder to take off, also chew up the macro. i switched to normal fitting and it never happened again....
