I have recently had some what of an arguement that I would like to address with the members of this board. Why is it required to take your hat of inside a building? As far as i can tell through literally hours of research "its just a thing you do for respect".
I honestly think it is somewhat of a social norm and has so been accepted that way. Now to those of you who are not religious don't pay attention to this part. I was asked if i would attend services with my mother for Easter. I agreed on the condition that I could wear my hat inside and take it off during pray and she said that it was just rude. I asked why is it rude? "because it is" Well hmm because it is? What kind of answer is that?
I honestly see the action of wearing a hat for me to be comparable to if not the same as a woman wearing make up or a purse. A woman won't leave the house without makeup and she has to have her purse, do to the fact it makes them feel more confident about themselfs and completes the wardrobe. Well my question is why can't my hat which i wear all day unless im asleep be the same. I feel uncomforatble with out my hat and I honestly feel better with it on.
To the issue of wearing it in church, i was taught that what your self image is really is what matters and that worldly matters in fact shouldn't matter. So why would my god care if i wore a hat as long as i was there to worship him.
So i said to my mom if you don't wear your makeup I will forfiet my hat for the afternoon. Can you guest what she said?

Sincerly and pissed, Kemp

I found this link to be very interesting:

It's a sign of respect and reverence, similiar to how in the military you wear your hat outdoors (not inside) and salute any superior rank while in uniform. It's about tradition.

Believe it or not, the Christian church deems it acceptable for a woman to wear a hat indoors and within church. Being that Easter is arguably the biggest liturgical day of the year of the Church, I anticipate many women getting dressed up and wearing hats to mass.

Nothing is stopping you from wearing a hat inside a church, just like nothing is stopping you from wearing a hat indoors. However, if you a wear a hat in church I guarantee that someone may ask you to remove it. If you're ok with getting looked at funny and people "thinking less of you" on a physical level then go right ahead. Just like you said, why would God care... you're there to worship him.

Not everyone wants to follow social normal or rules that have been past down through countless generations. Look at this as an opportunity to break tradition!

And in the military it can also be quite expensive to wear your 'hat' (or cover) indoors if that indoors place happens to be a bar.

"He who enters the bar covered here, buys the bar a round of cheer..."

I was thinking, "He who leaves their hat on the galley table will get a big surprise."
