Fly conversion
Soft face bolt
No volumizer (I don't think they work on Ir3's)
Egg 2 w/ Z board OR HALO B (if you get eyes)
Check-it clamping feedneck
14" ultralight (.689/.690)
MT trigger

I was going to say the same stuff. Most important is the fly conversion. Don't waste your money on anything else untill you Fly it bro. Everything else will be mostly cosmetic, or will make a very small change and you wont really notice it. You fly that beast, and it will be like a diffrent gun.

Also screw the egg's they suck. Get a halo with victory board. Do IR3's have one, or two detents? If it only has one, then when you have it sent in to get it flied, have them put another detent on it or else I don't think you will be able to use a halo.

Let us know how ya make out.

Brian, I am a firm believer that a 2nd detent is a myth. All of the conversions that Ken has done to LCD's and IR3's, they have all stayed with 1 detent. As you know we test all of the guns with a Halo V35 and have had Zero problems to this day. However, if you want a second one put in, it's your choice.

Back to the original question, for the best performance out of your gun get the conversion. If you want to start out slow, look into a soft face bolt, barrel kit, and MT Trigger. In the long run the Fly conversion kit is the best bang for your buck, hands down.

k, well for the soft face bolt i already have one, the gun came with it, i guess it has all of the cobra ups, cause yeah it is made by cobra... i just bought a evil pipe kit for it and yeah how much is it to fly it? like 300 bucks i think. but anyways should i even bother to get mem6 /cops 2 or should i not even bother?, and yeah can i use other trigger for the ir3, like speed triggers or A4 triggers or w/e?

Thats good information. No point in spending money not needed. I saw mikes flied IR3 shooting with a halo with victory (I think it was victory it was to fast to be stock!) on it I wasn't sure if he had to add a second detent or not to make it work. All I can say about his Flied IR3 is WOW. That gun shot so fast when he was in the croney everyone turned around to look, and this was in a staging area full of Timmies, and DM4/5's that bounce and ramp like crazy (the place we were at does not care about bounce, or ramp, or 300 FPS, or if your tank needs to be hydro, or at least it sure seems like they don't). They were all impressed. It sounded like a machine gun. I actaully saw a few players go up to mike, and say there is no way that thing is legal. He let them shoot it, and they just walked away scratching there heads. No bounce found. All day I saw people going up to him, and asking if it was legal. There was no diffrence between the speed of his gun, and the speed of any of the factory flies I have shot. It will be 300 bones very well spent if you decide to go with the conversion. Mikes gun also has the magnet MOD, and MT trigger on it on it too I believe. Mikes gun was done by Ken @ www.performanceangel.com.

I think the fly you are getting is diffrent. That is the old IR3 Fly. I am not sure what made it diffrent from a normal IR3. I think just milling :notsure: ?

When we are saying FLIED we mean the gun has eyes. Break beam eyes. Which means the gun will not fire if there is not a ball in place ready to be fired. Which means you will never chop. For more information you need to click the links I provided in my earlier posts.

The reason a 2nd detent doesnt really change anything on an angel is because the problem is not with the balls feeding past the ball detent but because of the gap between the bolt and ball stack if it where to be perfectly straight. If you look at where the bolt sits and where the balls sit there is about half a cm maybe a bit more, which is what lets the balls roll back and that causes chopping with the halo.
I am getting 4 detents on my gun 2 in front 2 in back, this is going to keep my ball stack perfectly straight, I hope lol. But yes the 2nd detent isnt really going to help with the double feeding, one detent will hold, but the ball stack still rolls back. And the soft face bolt also doenst come out far enough to keep the stack from rolling back either. From what I have heard the only angel thats solved this issue so far is the G7 but then again that is a rumor I heard.

do you think that the detents could have an effect on accuracy whether you had one or two? or would it not matter if your gun is consistent?
