Can you break in the leaf spring after a period of use, eventually having a lighter/softer trigger pull? Or is the only way to acheive that to bend the leaf spring?

hmm, heres my theory
breaking in the leaf spring is doable, and happens. however, it's a lengthly process. the first 50k + shots will soften it, but probably nothing you'd notice. it's when you're way down the line, for example i had an IR3 with hundreds of thousands of shots on it, and that was just the counter. it probably had several million pulls, dry, live, or without the gun even on. it's trigger was really nice. than again, it was the IR3's that had the adjustable pivot points. so maybe it was just that.
