charging problem

Just got a fly second hand and noticed the battery was flat so i went to charge the gun.On doing this i noticed that when i put the gun on charge the bar gragh segments do not cascade to indicate charge is being taken however i left the gun on charge for about 1 hour and the battery life segments did show a full charge just wont cascade as described in the manual.I believe 3.5 software was put on this gun could that have anything to do with it.Also after the 1 hour charge i left the gun on by mistake. It was left in the live condition and after about five hours the battery went flat does this sound about right
when charging the gun was in safe mode

the gun must be ON and in SAFE to charge. the gun should NOT turn it self live if you leave it for 5 hours

what i have now found out is that when i charge the gun with it on the segments do not cascade however when i then turn the gun off the segments then cascade
but only after the gun has been on with the charging taking place and then turning the gun off
