Today was the first day I had a chance to play with my evolve since I bought it from Andy. Everything was setup as the instructions stated, lpr set to 100 then installing the evolve lpr and setting to 50psi.

My first impression, based only on the looks of the kit, was that it showed potential however I noticed at the chrono I needed to increase the input pressure from 150psi to about 220psi. While I am not bummed about having to increase the operating pressure but I was bummed about the consistancy which was in the range of +/- 10fps. I was not too bummed in FSDO but if was rather annoying. I was definately bummed about the fact that less than a case of paint and the o-ring on the valve was gone.

I was amazed that the supposed decrease of kick with the lightened hammer actually increased the kick I previously had. It was not hard to manage but I had not expected an increase in kick.

I am not against inovation but it seems like there should have been a lot more R&D before marketing the product. I am less than happy about the performance the kit gave me today. I may do a little tinkering and see what I can modify to make the kit more me friendly but for now it's taken out of my marker with the exception of the hammer, which is most of the reason I bought the kit.

on my first experinces i would have to agree w/ your views

but w/ a good 2-3 hours of tuning you can get it so there is no kick

what i am thinking to do is to modify the valve spring

i am thinking it is to stiff for the lpr's that they are recomending running

My spare cup seal oring finally died today...I emailed PeeGee to see when the new shafts were coming. Until then, I'm going back to the stock volumiser and valve...sucks, because I REALLY like the kit.

Rather than get more and more frustrated, I'd figure I'd just take the kit out and wait for the updates from Evolve and then re-install the kit after that. Can't wait! Hopefully, they'll have something soon.

Email I received early this morning:

Hi Dale

We are having the Cup Seals made with a moulded rubber seal on them and that should then completely eliminate the problem.

It will be about 2 weeks before we have them ready to send out, as soon as we get them in we will get 1 on its way to you.

In the meantime we have put some replacement o-rings in the post to you.

Regards
Gordon

To support what that email said, they sent me a replacement part and about 12 o-rings...

Consistency left something to be desired but I think that's the minireg, not the evolve kit.

A short sidewinder reg should fix that problem.

DR

How does a sidewinder compare to a mini-reg? Does the long 1 recharge faster then the short 1 or the other way around? I was thinking about picking 1 up.

The Sidewinder is regarded as one of the best recharging regs available. The minireg is adequate.

Did I miss that part of the instructions? Crap, maybe I better start reading the black part of the instructions instead of the white part like I was doing.Yeah, the instructions state to run your dwell one higher than the lowest setting.

Okay here are my current settings:

Stock LPR - 80, no shoot down really, at least that I notice
Evolve LPR - 45, prolly up it to 50
0 blow back
some kick, but only notice when the gun isnt shouldered
TR6
Mini-reg input - 250(havnt chrono'd it yet, will prolly go down to about 220)

Right now, she is shooting perfect, only 1 complaint, not as quiet as I would have hoped, or in a few videos I have seen. Other than that, all I can say is DAMN!!!!

The length of the sidewinder is determined by what size adaptor is used. There is a short, medium, and long. The internals are all the same, and the adaptors are interchangeable.
