View Full Version : To those with shootdown...

I was having a problem with shootdown using the newton kit, and I think I may have found something that some people may not have tried.
After experiencing shootdown while rapid firing on my 5peed, I backed out the valve spring screw on the volumizer just a bit, and the problem went away. I think what happens, is while adjusting the blowback, some people might put just a bit too much pressure on the valve spring. While the LPR is recharging fast enough to open the valve under what would be properly tuned valve pressure, it may not be recharging quick enough to open it consistently with the added tension from the spring.
My 5peed is now the fastest gun I've ever shot, but it still chops on occasion. Still using the stock barrel, but I'm not convinced that's the problem. Ram is adjusted properly, LPR set at around 45, dwell of 10. No fsdo, no shootdown, just the occasional chop. What now? :notsure:

Interesting concept! I think I'm going to try this out as soon as the weather clears.
Since I currently have the kit uninstalled, I'll install just the Newton LPR on first and use just your standard Fly Volumizer. I'll see if I get the massive shootdown I got when using the full kit.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I hope this is something that people have just been overlooking, and can therefore erase this as a problem.

Thats wierd you posted this, was about to say something along the same lines on PBN.
Ive had very wierd experiances with this kit. Shootdown, FSDO, mainly with the evolve cap on, even with the right settings. Have been messin with it past few days and today I found out with all my shims in, my LPR is 90psi, i figured this is close enough to 100psi to work. (Ive had them all in before and had shootdown, FSDO) I dont know what was different this time, but was able to run 50psi, 10 dwell, and inline at whatever to shoot 280's/290's, and everything seemed to work fine. i think i am getting SLIGHT shootdown at high ROF's, because i can hear a small burp every now and then, but ill mess with my valve tensions some more, even though the screw is almost all the way out, and post back tomorrow.

Ive been playing witht he kit since christmas week. I run it at 50 psi and a dwell of 9. I have the valve set screw in setting fluch witht he volumizer.
No shoot down.
I would suggest that your nitro reg might not be recharging fast enough or perhaps the gun needs lubing.
I use a 45.5000 scion.
Pure energy tanks tend not to recharge fast enough.

once again, are you certain its a chop and not a barrel break?
