Does any one have any reccomendations on how to approach this so we can get a school paintball team. This is a thread on my local feilds website about starting a local league of high school teams. Here is my origonal post.
thread can be found at : http://www.actiontownsports.com/messageboards/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2150

"I saw this in another thread and i have also been thinking about it for awhile. So i think we should try to get a league of high school teams started around VA.I dont think it would be too hard to do. i think all of us who can should try to present this idea to the school you go to.

Drawbacks:
Keeping gear at school- We could put it in the office or a teachers classroom

so far the only expenses i see are:

Jerseys 30$-60$ a peice

Netting (maybe) 20x300 642$ http://www.thepaintballnettingcompany.com/netting.php

Feild(maybe)Five man 2799$
http://www.thepaintballnettingcompany.com/supair.php
as mentioned in the thread we could also use spools or something else that is cheaper

Insurance

Compressor(maybe)3300$ http://www.nuvair.com/category/paintball.html?source=Overture

Paint

Reball (Reusable practice paint for aiming drills and such)

If You see any more expenses please post here and i will edit this post

I think in order to cover the costs the school would have to set a fee for the team like 100$.

Im in the process of looking up expenses and approximate costs for every thing.

Edit: If anyone has any aproximate quotes for insurance or air compressors please contact me either in this thread or by email: Speedp8ntballer@gmail.com"

And the toothfairy is going to buy all that stuff for you guys? The school is not going to fork out 10K on something they never tried before. You might be able to sell them on the idea if you start out small, like allowing you guys to go play paintball at a field as a field trip for a day. Maybe findsome place the get pallets for free and start there for a field. The netting might be possible for the school to cover the cost of.

Insurance, hmmmm... The school has it's own insurance carrier and they're going to have kittens at the thought of a bunch of kids running around with "guns" shooting each other on a school sanctioned event.

This is really a big step and it might be better to start small and get it better and better. It's highly possible that you will be graduated from college before you see the school kids getting the stuff you are asking for now and then it'll probably be outdated.

see if you can start a Paintball Club at your school, and see if there are people at other schools that would starts the club at there school, then you can organize matches at the local feild, no need for buying one,

my school had a Paintball Club last I never went because it was all weird woodsball people, and they were just weird,

but try and start something and then put together teams (Kinda like a Varsity and JV thing) then organize with the other schools matches and if you can't get other schools to join in on the fun, you can just enter local tournaments, and enter but of your teams

well what i did for my college was i worked out deals and sponsorships with various fields.. if you have a big enough group interested in paintball or a big enough school.. they'd be more than willing to work something out with you guys

as for equipment, the school definitely won't pay for it let alone give you the room to store it so i wouldn't even think about it. the only thing i can think about is if you were to buy the stuff yourself out of your own pocket and make the money back by renting them off for maybe $5-10 per day

My high school would not allow a paintball club. However many schools around me had paintball clubs. I play for the University of Cincinnati team now, basicly we have a deal worked out with a local field, we pay wholesale price for paint, all we pay is $10 each week for field fee and air. The university covers the cost of paint, they pay for our tourneys and travel and hotel and stuff. Granted this is a university funding it, your high school will not fund you guys like that.

What I recommend is go to your local field. Talk to the owner, tell them your idea etc... See if he will give you wholesale price or close to it for paint, and see if he will cut you a deal on entry and stuff. Go to your school discuss it with them about your idea etc... If you get a teacher or two that play paintball or would be interested in doing it that would help your case out a lot with your principle and stuff. Once you get something started at your school and the word gets out I am sure other players at other schools will work to do the same thing. You could get like a league set up if you get enough people interested.

And yeah your school will not buy you a field and more than likley wont spot you any money, unless you go to like a rich people school and stuff, but if that is the case I am sure parents would fund stuff like that....
